| Do you have any problems with the new Social Groups feature where you have to be a member of the group to post in its forums? We can either keep them and users can continue to create their own groups and forums on any topic you with. Or I can delete the group features, delete all the group forums, and then we're stuck back to the open forums we had before the social groups were added. And if this happens, I won't just add forums for users that want to start new forums on different topics as that was the whole point of adding the social groups. |

| Please keep it exactly the way it is now. There is nothing wrong with it the way it is now. |

| No big deal, if I'm on my way out of the house and want to send a quick response, it's a slighty hassle, but nothing too complicating. I went and joined them all, so I won't run into the "2 click" process in the future. ![]() I like the social groups. It keeps out folks who don't want to join from posting. If they want to discuss the same topic on the open forum, they can start a new thread. gf

| LOL, it's really not a big deal. The user groups make up a VARY SMALL PART of the overall forums. We still have 16 other forums to post in not counting state forums/firearm news/reviews. ROCK ON and keep it the same.

| OK, I started Veterans and Guns in spring 2008, it grew faster than I hoped for, the s/g was incorporated into a free to all forum called 'Military and Veterans', the s/g 'Vets and Guns' still exists as a sub-group within that forum and still gets posts, but IMHO it is now just a duplicate of a forum set up by the system changes. It catches posts but it may as well be discontinued & incorporated in full into M & V as the threads would be easier to follow and it is no longer moderated, so I think it has become redundant. On the positive side I save 4-8 hours a week moderating it, screening and posting welcomes to Vets or Active Duty applicants as anyone on USA Carry can post into it, even if they are not a Veteran or even wear a military uniform now. I may just join the Glock-o-holics s/g to find out what is so hot about a Glock (JK), a Vets and Guns popular CCW. I wonder how the other gun related s/g patrons would feel if the system just grouped all weapons into four forums: pistols, rifles, shotguns and others. Now do you see why Veterans and Guns is just an obsolete echo of what it once was and probably needs to be removed and just be a catch-all forum called Military and Veterans? The other social groups were not sucked into a broad-spectrum forum, so they are still subject specific. No this is not me moaning about a s/g I created, just that s/g's are for special interest topics, forums are for more general topics, so why have a s/g inside a forum that already covers the entire subject area? How many non-Vets would read a post made into Military and Veterans if they are not interested about changes to a small V.A. policy that doesn't effect them but takes thou$ands out of a Vet's disability pay? Post into that forum a bombshell like 'Flaming gay and flabby troops are now defending our nation!' (some truth to that statement in certain cases) and watch how many opinions you may get from Vets, active-duty and total civilian members of USA Carry! It then becomes a hot thread about the Military and Veterans (right?) that gets plenty of views and prolly some very differing points of view, heated posting by folks with opinions who never served with a good (or bad) gay or overweight troop (or served at all with anyone but the scouts as a kid) but are now 'media experts' in the subject. Food for thought or fat troops, and gay times ahead for anyone who still likes subject specific social groups and uses forums for more diverse topics. BTW I love the Military and Veterans forum and it does seem to be working.Canis-Lupus Last edited by Canis-Lupus; 01-14-2009 at 11:41 AM. |
