Default Number Of People Viewing This Forum

I've seen as many as 300 people viewing the General Firearms Discussion at one time and hardly anyone is posting. Why is that? Reveal yourself. Who are you?

Other forums I'm on may have 1/10 as many people viewing and you can't keep up with the topics and posts. Either the number of people viewing is incorrect or we have some real weirdos lurking in the shadows.

I'll give my perspective. My family and I are very new in the handgun/firearm realm and do a lot of our research on here. I grew up with shotguns, 30/30 and .22s. No handguns really, and haven't shot a pistol in more than 10 years. I wouldn't know a glock from a taurus from a kimber if I had one in my hand. My wife is very green, basically just learned in the past two months. She has come a long way and impresses most of the people she has shot around with how accurate she is. We are trying to find some place where she can put her hands on a large selection without the " Im so great " ass behind the counter huffing and puffing at your ignorance ( which I think that is all Orlando has). We really have no information to offer and just get on here to read opinions of guns and situations that we might come across. We don't even have anything that will throw lead besides a crossman pellet gun. We have to piece together ten/20 bucks here and there just to get a gun pot going so she can get something to keep her company while I work nightshift. Now I'm revealed

Here's the actual answer....

Most forums, if not all, are regularly visited by search engine bots from Google and Yahoo, which catalog all their new pages each day. Each bot will show up as a guest. Usually 80-90 percent or more of visitors are in reality these search engine bots. :)

I'd rather see 89% of the forum members lurking and reading, than to have to wade through a bunch of opinions with no knowledge or first-hand experience behind them.

I can recommend this site to both my experienced shooting buddies, and as a learning tool to new gun owners. If it were as you suggest, the new gun owners would be lost sifting through all the junk and the experienced shooters would not appreciate the large volume/little knowledge approach.

I don't agree. You and one of the posts before you is negative and argumentative. No one is an expert and I'd rather have people, right or wrong, posting and talking about it. I'm a vet, own several guns and I don't know everything. I won't be shy and I will be outspoken about my rights. It's just a firearm.

2 months ago when I signed up I asked this question in the welcome section and one of the moderators said be careful what you say. There are people lurking and there have been incriminating stories. That's not me and probably not you. It borders on creepy. Never been to a forum with 300 people viewing a category and no one posting. Who cares if Janet Napolitano is watching. She might learn something.

So I signed up 2 months ago and left because no one is posting. I'm coming because I'm trying to get info on the shortage of ammo. I think there is more to that story than a demand problem. Why aren't the manufacturers ramping up production?

Not sure where the Ammo's GOING, but...from a guy I buy ammo from - a friend's son works at...one of the major manufacturers (I don't remember which) and apparently there, they have been cranking out ammo 24/7 for quite awhile now. They are pulling major overtime, had their Xmas vacations canceled, so on and so forth. So, at least we know the manufacturers are trying to pull their weight. I only wish I knew where it was all going.

I know the administrators for a large political website for some time. My answer above is the correct one. These guests are nothing but bots from search engines. Most popular sites get hundreds of hits each day from them.

They are not real people folks.....no one needs to get upset at 300 search bots.

That's a lot of bots. Why don't we see this on other forums?

No one is upset. Just making an observation. Very unusual.

Hazard123, first off welcome to the site. You will find that the majority of the people on this site are very helpful, and have no problem answering any question that you might have. Don't be afraid to put your 2 cents in. Glad to see another NM CCW on the site.
