| When it comes to the subject of weapon carry and deadly force, the members of this Forum are, by far, the most reasoned and intelligent contributors of any internet site that deals with these subjects. I am new to this Forum but have participated in many of the others that offer similar subjects and, in many cases, the responses to threads and posts have been insulting, argumentative, and downright scary, particularly when the Dirty Harry Rambos get on the forum. I use these forums to learn more about my weapon and its respnsible and legally-correct use--- this forum, in the little time I have been on it, have provided me with a genuine insight into proper behaviour and action when it comes to concealed carry and use of the weapon without a barrage of the "I've got 5,000 rounds and a laser and a flashlight and a vest and will kill anybody who comes near me with their eyes crossed" mentality. I'm all for the NRA and my rights as a gun owner but it gets downright scary when you read some of the threads that appear on some of these sites. |

| I am certain your comments are appreciated and I could not agree more. I have been on a few of the other sites and have not had the patients to stick around, my preference is to deal in the real world. My shortest stay was a visit to a site (I don't know which one) that automatically bans anyone who metions "mouse" guns. Now THAT is one big group of masculine challenged, insecure people. I will admit that here I personally could do with a bit less of the "cut and paste" articles from ultra-right wing publications ... I can read them myself is I want to ... however, it is a small price to pay to also get the intellegent discussion from the same posters. What you notice here is that this group is intent on two things ... proper self defense, and advancement of our rights to it. This type of advancement is not gained by being arrogant, or otherwise trying to get your 15 minutes of fame. It is not gained by you-tube anti police, anti government, anti everyone propoganda. It is a gained by recognizing how the system works, and working the system to get what you need. I never understand why those who believe they are SOOO above the rest of the law bother to get a gun permit. I guess when they are actually facing a guy with a real badge and gun they are actually not so arrogant? Here discussions turn to what to do to be safe, secure and as much as possible legal. I've heard the I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by six statment too many times. I would rather not be in that position in the first place. In most places today, there is plenty of latitude to fully protect yourself and not need to be judged by 12. Of course, that could mean actually KNOWING a bit of the rules. Your post does not indicate how long you have be a permitted carrier, but I would guess it is not super new, so apparently you already know the basics. I've been at this for a while and used to do it somewhat professionally and put out my book, "A Polite Society" in 2005 and still believe most of it is all common sense with a bit of sharpening of the senses. Your presence and input will be welcome here and of course, the more active we can get this forum the more we can all learn. |

| I agree. So far this as been a very informative and friendly forum. I haven't been on long, and generally just read the information that comes off of here, and when I feel I may have a unique perspective, or some insight, I chime in. You don't seem to find the "trolls" and other trouble makers here. Just a lot of like minded individuals helping out one another and sharing information. |

| Welcome Kelcarry I have to agree with you. This site has a ton of great knowledgeable people. Luke and the other mods also do a great job keeping the trolls out. Enjoy the site!
