Has anyone heard or experienced an instructor that penalized you for blowing out the center of the target during your range test? (Supposedly they can't count the shots and cannot record as a hit.)
Are the range tests or rules different per instructor?
I didn't experience any problems but my instructor was a SC Grass Roots member![]()

That's ridiculous! Blowing out the center shows that you know how to shoot! I blew mine out and got 100% I always liked to see my students blow out the center...it made counting simple!![]()

They just don't score it and give you a passing grade... even with a 45 if you blow the center out you've hit enough center mass to pass.
That is passing in my book! Nice grouping I'd say!
Who needs a 45 when you can do it with a 9mm or 38 special?
Should have used my Ruger Mark II 22/45 Bull barrel
Agreed - good problem to have!
My instructor looked at my target then, without even attempting to start counting, wrote 100% on the top. Of course I didn't blow the center out but I would think if you did, it would show you know how to shoot your firearm.
