Non-resident reciprocal Permits in SC

Does SC accept any non-resident state permits?

Let's say I am a GA resident.

Obviously SC doesn't accept GA's CWP.
Say I got a non-resident CWP from another state?
Is there a non-resident permit in another state that SC will accept?

As a SC resident, is it legal for me to use a CWP from another state while in SC?

No to both your questions...

SC does not recognize any non resident permits...

As an S.C. resident only your S.C. permit will be accepted.

Now the quandary could come from duel residency.... if you were a resident of Florida also and got a Florida Permit with a Florida address on it then that would be recognized.

The only way to get around the non-resident issue is to get an S.C. non resident permit... which you have to own land (pay taxes on it) to get one of these.

I think that if you were a dual resident you would have to have a SC CWP for it to be accepted. Being a dual resident would mean that either you owned property in SC or at least lived here part of the time. If you do not own any property in SC and do not establish an address in SC (DL or similar ID card) I am not sure how you would obtain a SC CWP. I don't think that having a FL CWP and claiming SC residence, even dual residence, would get by the local police and I am sure it would not cut it with SLED.

depends on which side of the fence you are looking from....

our esteemed law makers were forced to require recognition of other permits.... with the help of SLED they then did their best to limit this number and succeeded pretty good.

SLED is supposed to review and somehow come to a reciprocal agreement with other states that have equal or better requirements for a permit. I suspect they don't really work too hard at this.... at least if their example of keeping their web site up to date is any example. Has Washington state been added yet?

Grassroots is the answer...they are just about the only ones attempting to do anything in S.C. Don't get snuckerd by the NRA (of which I am a member) they will spend more time fighting any 'good' change than helping us out.

I am a member of the NRA also - just to help the membership base numbers.
Thinking about canceling NRA membership and support of GOA instead.
I really can't stand the freaking phonecalls about what Wayne LaPierra says or more solicitation for money.
Tired of the deals and compromises on our rights for their gain...

We support SC Grass Roots.
Even used one of their instructors a few years back to get my CWP.

I'm from GA and I shop in GA often, I'm in the NRA and support GRASSROOTS. I carry a SC CWP and an out of State NH permit. One of my brothers lives in GA and has the same problem you have. I told him that the problem was that if you were breathing GA would give you a Permit, SC does try to be sure that the right people get their CWP. If you have a CWP in your state it should be excepted in ALL States.
