Default Gunsmithing, Anyone?

Just picked up my new XD-40, and one of the first things I want to do is reduce the trigger pull by a few pounds. I was amazed when I called several local gun shops (including the one where I purchased my pistol) and was told that they had no one who could do this. When I lived in South Fla. there were at least a dozen shops nearby with experienced gunsmiths.

I would think that one spring would be all it takes (looking at the brerak-down of the weapon), and I would also think that there must be more than one after-market supplier for this part.

I'm located in Central Florida, close to Orlando and Daytona. Does anyone know of a reliable gunsmith in my area that could pull this off?

I need to tear my XD down and do a trigger job on mine. I haven't done it yet so I don't know what is involved. Try here. Canyon Creek Custom - Springfield XD From what I've found Cannon Creek is the premier SD gunsmith around.

Only problem is I'd have to ship the gun out of state, and I'm very uncomfortable with that. I'd rather find someone local, where I'd have to give up the gun for a few hours, or maybe a few days at most, and be able to pick it up when finished.

I looked at a break-down chart for the XD-40 and it looks like a single spring conversion. I can field-strip my pistol, but don't know if I'd be comfortable tearing it completely apart.

I understand how you feel. Shipping isn't much of a problem other than having to wait a little longer to get it back. I've shipped firearms several times and never had any problems. Just in case you can't find one in your area then shipping could be a last resort.

Looks like the Glock does have an advantage over the XD.
