Definitely things to consider in that article. Good post.

  4. Great post, Gunner.

Let me add one that cannot, repeat cannot be ignored; necessary medical treatment.

About this time last year I was suffering from a sinus flare-up related to previous facial injuries and surgeries. It had happened before and been corrected with drugs, so I just took the pills and hoped it would happen that way again.

Six weeks later I was in the ER with surgeon explaining to me that I needed surgery post-haste, or would lose the eye. There was even a remote possibility of the skull being breached my all the pressure. The pain was so bad that even morphine barely took the edge off.

I can only imagine what would have happened if I were in that condition while caught in a Katrina-like situation.

So, please don't put off those visits to the Dr. or Dentist. You never know when that minor annoyance is going to turn into the emergency of your life.

BTW, two surgeries later I'm feeling better than I have since I had that head injury years ago.

yes, millions found out the hard way what a crappy 'investment" a single familiy home is. get a $5000 single wide trailer, put it on a $5000 hunk of pastureland, with another 5-10k of well, septic tank, and power access, and pay it off in 2 years, if you are serious. Me, I just park my little 6x10 on a BLM mining claim, up north in the mountains for the summer, down south in the winter. the claims cost me $270 a year, for both. :-)

That's our plan... buy a three bedroom modular and put it on the five acres my family is giving us.

Pretty much what my son has set up on his place up north. 40 acres out in the boonies, has a really nice modular set up while builds a
'cabin' and barn on the property.
Can fish, hunt and farm on his land so pretty self-sufficient.

Have large acreage, semi burried home and supplies, well equiped off grid with adequate supplies of food an ammo, and all the water I need.

Sad for me, I live in a City, and well into the well populated parts of Michigan, although I have an idea of where Ill go post collapse, I may have difficulty getting there, especially if a Martial Law situation hits. Im sure Ill figure it out eventually.
I do however have a small bag packed, and everything else will be carried on me, and taken when I have the chance. Im poorly prepared, as is 98% of America, I just hope Im better trained than the rest.
