With an AR...I would try to have 1200 per gun. You have to shoot 2-3 times to make an insurgent stay shot with a 7.62 1 usually does it.

It's all about the transfer of energy vs. the wound channel.

I just thought of something. Should we be advertising our ammo inventory on a public internet forum?????

Default Ammo minimums

Personally, I will have to cast my lot with the Arizona State Prison, Arizona Department of Public Safety, and most sheriff and police departments in Arizona and go with #4 Buck instead of 00. At 25 yards, believe it or not, a man can walk through the pattern of 00 Buck and not get hit by a single pellet. The use of #4 Buck is considered just as lethal as 00 Buck, plus delivers many more pellets on target. No one can get totally missed at 25 yards with #4 bUck. He will be on the ground, seeping red juice from many openings.

That inventory will fluctuate so often that it probably doesn't matter. It's not like you're advertising your SHTF stockpile or anything.

And for the record, some of what I have is:
~500 rounds of 9mm WWB
Over 50 rounds of .380 WWB
50 12 ga birdshot shells
500 .22 rounds

...and 6000 BBs.

I don't have a tremendous amount of PD ammo, but it's enough to fill my magazines when carrying and enough buckshot and slugs to fill up the magazine on my Moss 500, and then some. I'm not predicting a zombie attack in the near future, but I am continuing to accumulate, of course.
