Default Traveling from MA to NC

    Hi All,

Newbie here, first post. I have resident LTC from MA and a non-resident permit from UT.

I will be driving from MA to PA then NC over holidays. This is my first foray out of state. Handguns will be stored in locked case in trunk separate from ammo. Any problems that you see with travel plans? Am I good for concealed carry in PA? NC? on non-resident UT permit? I know that MA does not have reciprocity anywhere.

Looking forward to your learned responses. Thanks!

Dont transport hollow points through NJ, no matter how you have them stored.

You can carry in your vehichle (on your person or glove compartment) in RI as long as you are not stopping and just passing through. Ditto on the hollowpoints in NJ.

Thanks for the helpful travel hints. Mbass, actually I am traveling to your neck of the woods, Pinehurst. Any suggestions on local ranges I can visit?

    L & S Pistol Region Club, Pinehurst, NC 910-295-4834

I have a range on my property, but I know of many who use this place.

Default Notes on Virginia and Pennsylvania

While you are in Virginia, open carry is legal. It is REQUIRED if you eat in a place that sells alcohol by the drink (at least until 1 July 2010).

With a permit, you can carry open in Pennsylvania. It is a License To Carry a Firearm in Pennsylvania (not just concealed) that your Utah gives you reciprocity.

Check this forum out for details

    http://forum.pafoa.org/

Keep the gun locked up, magazines empty, ammo separate while in NY, NYC, NJ, and MD. Avoid stopping for anything but gas.

CT and RI are out of my league.

If you can, take I-81 out of Pennsylvania, thru Maryland, and into Virginia. Use I-77 to get to North Carolina. Roads are better, less traffic....

No permit is required for open carry in PA...with exception of within the city limits of Philadelphia. There is no OC within a vehicle in PA...a gun in a car is considered concealed in PA, even if its sitting on a seat.
