Traveling to Commiefornia

Im flying to L.A. with a buddy to pick up his vehicle and then we are driving it out of CA. And of course, I want my handgun with me during this trip.

Ive looked at CA penal code and I understand I can travel with a pistol as long as it is in a car or I am physically walking to a car where I can keep it in the trunk in a locked container. However, Commiefornia believes that the 11th round in a magazine is the most dangerous, so they banned magazines with a capacity over 10. I am only going to be in CA for a few hours as we land at the airport, pick up his car, and drive on the interstate out of that state, and I would hate to have to drive all the way through Arizona and Colorado with only my one 10 round magazine rather than my 15 round mags. Handgunlaw.us says CA does not ban the possession of "high capacity" magazines but they ban the importation, and I assume that means bringing one with me in my luggage.

I guess what my question is then, am I just screwed into relying on only my 10 round magazine for this whole trip through Arizona and Colorado just because I cannot "import" my 15 round mag in my luggage?

And if you have traveled into or through California or landed in LAX with a handgun before, how was your experience?

You can't bring the banned magazines in to California. There isn't a way around it, and it is a felony. You can't carry them on, because they are considered gun parts which are banned from carry on luggage. Deal with the 10 rounder and you have a reason to stop at a gun store when you hit Arizona. Maybe even take the opportunity to shoot a machine gun and make the most of it.

Do you know anyone along your route you can mail your larger-cap mags to to pick up on the drive?

Other than that, just make sure you follow all standard "travel" rules for firearms, and all standard airline rules. I'd even suggest not opening your airline-travel case until you're out of CA to be safe.

When I travel to CA I carry my colt with 8 round mags and just carry more (EMPTY) eight round mags. Have a safe trip, enjoy AZ when you get there.

Funny, I don't remember the cholo's & other gangbangers in CommieFornia having any problems carrying high capacity magazines.....SMFH

Thanks for the input guys. I most likely will just have to make a stop in a gun store in Arizona to pick up a 15 rounder (major disappointment I know lol).

It just makes me so mad that just because I will be in Commiefornia for a few hours, I have to carry a smaller magazine for my whole trip. What the hell is wrong with me carrying my 15 round magazine as usual??????

I sure hope California falls into the ocean where they can become their own liberal paradise country.

I can't believe that you don't see the value in protecting the public at large by limiting your magazine capacity, albeit for a few hours. Rounds 11 - 15 are killers, and I just wish you all would recognize how much safer we are with only 10 in the magazine.
