Default Virginia Pass Law To Allow Non-CCW To Store Gun In Glove Box

In Virginia, you can now store your firearm in the glove box or other interior compartments of a vehicle or boat without having to have a concealed weapon permit. This legislation was pass Feb 11, 2008.
The Governer Tim Kaine vetoed similar legislation in 2006 stating that it could possibly endanger police officer. Majority of the Senate voted for the bill, 31-9.

Previously, motorist without concealed weapon permits we allowed to put their guns on the seat next to them in plain view. Senator Jill Holtzman Vogel, Winchester Republican, stated that the bill was needed to protect children who may be in the vehicle.
