Yup, it's true, handguns are pretty much banned in the UK and although a lot of the cops would love to carry, it's not really on the government agenda.I didn't think that guns were allowed in London or any place in England. The police (bobies) don't even carry.
By the way: only people in Sherlock Holmes movies say Bobbies these days - my favourite UK police nickname is The Fuzz. In some parts of the country they're also called The Rozzers or The Bizzies. No idea why!
