What to women prefer? Revolver or pistol I have been told that a revolver is better for women because they cant work the slide on a pistol very well. I have seen women carrying pistols. Maybe when they hit 40’s or 50’s the slide is too hard to work. Would like some input from women.

I'm an "older" woman :-) and I prefer pistol by far, I own both. I have no problem with the slide. I've met women that did have trouble but once you teach them the "push/pull" method they can do it with no problem. Practice, practice, practice.

i carry a Tarus .357, titanium, blue, hollow points. i chose this particular weapon because i trust a revolver. no worry about mag jam. i was trained on a M16 by the US Army and in jersey with all the sand that was a threat. i have several pistols, 9mm, 25, 22 380 they are comfortable to use but, for trust i go for a revolver. i dont have a problem with pull back and i keep a pump action shotgun loaded and ready to go in the house and a baseball bat in my car. my 357 in my purse always, i live in wyo and it's legal to carry conceal, but i have a conceal permit as well. (My guns are always loaded!)

I carry both....the revolver is a back-up. The only time I have trouble with the slide is when it is brand new and has not been oiled.

My favorite pistol is my SR9 and as I practice a lot, I'm quite used to the slide. So if someone is finding the slide to be difficult to operate, perhaps they are not practicing enough. However, my usual carry is my Ruger LCR because it is so lightweight. And in my case, I find a revolver is more accurate than a semi-auto.

This is from a man's point of view, so if it hits off target please forgive both the comments and the pun.

I talked my wife into a revolver. It is a .357 rated revolver loaded with +P .38 Critical Defense. Why? My wife wanted a Glock, which we bought, and the reason she game was that it was pretty. My brain disregarded this reason and understood that it was a fully functional, well made, reliable firearm and nothing i could say would change her mind. Unfortunately, she does not practice enough, or have the discipline to train enough in order to use this weapon effectively in case of a malfunction. She would be unable to clear a jam or misfire efficiently, thereby putting her in more danger. Secondly, the grip was too wide to fit her hand properly. For these reasons, she carries a revolver.

Its not phisical strength so much as it is technqice, my 100lb wife can rack even our compact Kimber, its about the toughest we have to rack, once she learned how, and she has no issue at all with the Glocks, her prefered carry, G-26, we had revolvers but prefer autos,

I wouldn't necessarily say that women in general will prefer one or the other. It's all a matter of personal preference and the purpose you're using it for. I have a Ruger SP101 revolver that I love to take to the range. I always say that I prefer revolvers for their simple elegance. But, for concealed carry I use a Ruger LCP. I chose it mostly because its small size and thin profile make it very easy to conceal. I agree with the comments above; in most cases anyone could learn to use a gun with enough practice. I would say that a combination of learning to use it, practicing often, and understanding the advantages and disadvantages to both the revolver and the semi-auto are all extremely important factors when choosing a handgun.
