Chicago proper, yeah, absolutely. I'm out Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn way and I'm actually surprised by the amount of businesses that DON'T have placards. Good for them.

All very true. But around Chicago it may take a while for the businesses to understand. To many know they must kiss the Chicago Machine's tail end to be able to stay in business.

it sounds like you've been using your best weapon to protect yourself and your family all along.. your head. now the law has opened a new avenue (finally) and it's never too late to exercise even more caution. bravo to you for working in a bad area for all those years and never having a problem. I hope you got the firearm/self defense training and continue to keep your wits about you. I remember clapping out loud at work (quiet environment) when I came across a news article that Chicago was going to start issuing permits. my guess is that once the geniuses in DC see that all hell isn't breaking loose like they thought, they might change too (but probably not) but congrats! take care, keep calm and you know the rest

When Will First Licenses Be Issued?
February 11, 2014 by Illinois Gun Pros

This is the big question on the minds of all the Instructors, as the Instructors were allowed to apply Dec. 18th as part of a “beta test.” After about 30 days, a great number of Instructors noticed that their online application status changed from “Under Review” to “Approved.” There was even an issue date and an expiration date.

However, within 4 days, the statuses all changed back to “Under Review” as this was apparently just a de-bugging.

Then, in the first days of February, many instructors got an email saying that their licenses were approved and would be mailed within 30 days. However, a couple hours later, another email was sent telling them to disregard this “test.”

Rumors abound, but most of us believe that no licenses will be issued until the first batch of instructors receive theirs, a full 90 days after their application date.

And yet, Wisconsin can do theirs in 21-days.
