I am so relieved that they are passing a law in Illinois to allow concealed carry. I hate going to work with my gun, only to find out that I am being redirected thru Illinois. I feel safer knowing that. So they have 180 days to pass this law and come up with the restrictions to do so. This is great news. Your thoughts?

I take it you are a truck driver. does a lock box in the sleep area count as the rear most part of the vehicle as far as transporting it legally is concerned?

In Illinois you can have a semi auto with the loaded mag as long as the mag is not in the gun and the gun and mag together in a closable council or gun box.

my thoughts are that it will definitely be a "may issue" state and will be harder to get than the NJ CCL

I think so but im not sure about that. thats where I keep it anyways. I dont like my revolver to be in my luggage in the tool box outside because its out in the weathers temp. plus if I have to lock my truck and reach in the back to retrieve my gun for protection, Id like it to be somewhere close. but locked. If im in any other state, its on my hip (iwb).

i do believe it will be pretty hard for people to get a ccw in Il. even with a May Issue, they will have very strict laws. and every other buisness will have a "no guns allowed" on there window.

Since July 9, 2013 If you have a concealed carry permit from ANY other state you may have a loaded firearm in your vehicle. If you dismount your vehicle you must first stow your firearm in a glove box or console. There are other options.

Is there any talk about allowing non-residents to carry with a license issued from an other state or will the issue non-residents license?
