Certainly many others are more lenient in their view but I look at having a CCWP as being a very awesome responsibility that cannot accept any assault/confrontational-type matters of record---it says something about some of your choices and, finding it hard to believe someone just comes up to you and hits you, your personality---this does not make you a bad person but calls into question your ability to control the things that could lead to unfortunate circumstances.
    I have to respectfully disagree with you sir.

    I can show multiple cases where a person was attacked for no reason in just my city alone. Furthermore, avoiding confrontation is of course the first step in self defense. The movie theaters in my town are filled with punk gangsters, you know the kind that have pants around their knees, bandannas with their gang colors, etc.

    By your standards I should just not go to the movies. My fiancee and I can't go to a public venue because the chance of confrontation is higher than the country club? Does that mean I too should reconsider carrying because I willfully go to a location where there is a higher probability of confrontation?

    Sir, the main reason many of us carry is not because we're confrontational. But because we don't have a crystal ball that tells us which locations/people are.

    If you can honestly say that you avoid all locations where there may be a confrontation then I have to assume you never leave your house.

    It's good to hear you were cleared. I hope you can get your life back on track and put this nasty experience behind you.
    People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.--River Tam

    I'm just glad to hear that the judicial system worked properly and SLED is going to be prompt in returning your CWP.

    What do you mean assuming if I'm telling the truth I'm. So you mean to tell me that you never goes any where, anything could happen at any giving time and place. And who said she hit me, oh you must be Mr. perfect you need to check yourself kelcarry

    Hey foots402: I am one of those who had harsh words for you. I am really glad that this cloud is out from over you. No one but you, and certainly no one on this forum, can really know what went on in your case but, hopefully, this taught you a valuable lesson about where you go and who you go with, particulary if you should be CC. Just don't get in that kind of trouble again and disappoint this forum. Good luck to you and I apologize for any angst I may have caused with my rather "hard" comments.

    Normally i don't get this way on forums but, something about the way you choose to articulate your position troubles me. Again, respectfully;

    "Hopefully this taught you a valuable lesson about where you go and who you go with..." Please correct me if I am wrong- but how do you know where he was? For all I know he was at Amnesty International HQ.

    I agree that we as CC holders must set good examples, but you're basically saying be a complete push over. Do we need a macho CC on the news? Hell no! Do we need to allow people to push us because we carry? Hell no! Do we need to isolate ourselves from society and give up the places we love to go? Hell no!

    You don't get to choose the circumstances! Am I saying go to a rock concert and join the "mosh pit" no...but you're acting as though you never go anywhere that is remotely unsafe. You stated that you've never been in the position or location where someone has attacked you.

    Sir, you are in your mid 60's and I must say I envy you for growing up in a different time. I'm not saying your generation was crime free, but arguably safer than the society of today. You've made comments that you question someone with his "persona" shouldn't carry a gun. I just have to question, if you are so sure of your ability to avoid confrontation and keep yourself away from locations and people that cause confrontation- why do you carry at all? I am in no way trying to offend you, I just don't agree with your position, and debate enlightens both sides.

    Hey CST: I appreciate your comments and the civility in your discussion. I am not one to say I don't make mistakes and, at least on this thread, I am definitiely in the minority. You made some good points and I cannot argue with what you said. In answer to the "why do I CC?"---I very rarely actually do CC when "out and about" but found the course leading up to the CCWP extremely rewarding and helpful for primary home defense/in the neighborhood sort of "situations". Maybe I am just lucky and maybe I grew up in a different time but nonetheless it was in NYC/NJ and not your casual pastoral setting for just kissing and hugging---in all that time I have NEVER known anyone, including myself, who has needed or wished they had a CCW for a "situation". Bottom line in my thinking is that common sense and awareness of who, what, where will get you a lot farther and a lot safer than ignoring those 3 questions because you are CC. I apologized in my last post to the original thread writer and apologize to you for any of the difficult feelings you expressed in your post.
