Thread: CCW May Issue - How can that be legal?

Here in NJ CCW is "may issue" and is next to impossibe. You must show (extreem) nessessity. Seems since the Heller case, states like mine, Ill and Wis which have no CC at all have a best chance at going to federal court. If "the right to keep and bear arms" has been deemed an individual, not collective right and no law inforcement agency in the country has the obligation or is civilly liable to protect a person in an attack. Then one would conclude 1) No one or no agency hes the responsibility to protect you. 2) Being denied the right to carry is being denied the only means one has to defend them self in a life theating situation. Thus being denied the right to "life liberty and the pusute if happieness.

Thankfully the AG has absolutely nothing to do with making law, beyond recommendations. And any legislator that is Pro2A will likely ignore an anti-2A AG. But, yeah, it may have just gotten a bit tougher when it comes to enforcement. There may be silver lining. If Ms. Harris pushes hard, there could be a huge backlash, inclluding court cases. These could render much of her enforcement moot.

It is up to the PEOPLE!

Good luck! Keep fighting! And Happy Thanksgiving.

In the mean time, fight for your right!

P.S. I lived in CA for 19 years. There are a LOT of pro 2A folks all over that state.
Islander , I can only say you hit the nail when you said watch who your vote for and throw the crooks out of office. We the people will prevail

Good luck trying to get these progressive socialists in this state to pass a "shall issue" law. I'm fortunate now to live in a gun friendly county, but that wasn't the case when I lived on the central coast. It is certainly ironic that I have a CCW for AZ & UT too. But I did get a CCW here in 2009 and feel much better not to be risking a felony offense if I'm ever stopped.
That being said I see that others have information I wasn't aware of regarding judicial proceedings. However I recall reading about a county sheriff in the LA area that revoked and refused to renew any CCW permits (Orange County?). I don't get a lot of free time to explore and get on forums much, but would appreciate if anyone has any information.
I wish you luck Mitchell on getting a CCW her in CA. We are absolutely going to need them here.

Fill in the paperwork, go to the class, qualifiy your (3) guns and wait. All of the people around me who have submitted the application have received there CCW.

Congrats on receiving your CCW Love62!

LIke you I live in Riverside county and as soon as I purchase my second weapon, I'll be applying for a CCW. But I've always heard you need a better reason than just "to protect myself". Can you give me any help in giving the best responses on my application?

    Thanks!

I understand your sentiment, but I have to disagree. This is not a flame on you or anyone else. I don't like the idea of gunowners simply giving up on a state and cutting and running. I want to see people put up the good fight against the injustices against gunowners in states like CA, MA, NJ and NY. Fight the good fight.

  9. All depends on where you live and if the sheriff supports ccw. Just another reason to vote. I live in Sacramento and was able to get mine no problem you knew what to say for the reason, but the sheriff supports ccw and doesn't care about the reason as long as background check and training pass.

JRM, I'm in Tulare County and one of the very friendly Sheriff's assistants told me that same thing. I responded with "I also carry large amounts of cash for my business".
But what I really wanted to say was "Reason? We don't need no stinkin' reason!"
    Cheers!

I like your attitude G50AE and I agree completely. Seems the NRA gave up on CA years ago. But not so with some other groups out there. The media and politicos are trying to divide against each other too. They try to pit hunters against the CCW crowd (or have in the past). But now they're pissing all gun owners off with their senseless and stupid ammunition laws.
