    With a SC CWP and traveling in SC can you keep the weapon on your person when in a veh or must it be secured in the trunk or glove Box.

    Your CWP allows you (thank you government masters) to carry concealed everywhere not prohibited by law. There is no prohibition against carrying concealed in a vehicle.

    SC permit holders can keep their weapons on in the car. Non-permit holders can keep a loaded handgun in the glove box.

    There was some really stupid assumptions regarding in car carry with a CWP. It would have taken some really anal interpretation by LEOs to even consider giving you grief but Grassroots submitted a bill that was passed and cleared it up.

    They added this to the vehicle carry law because of some as you say anal cops that refused to believe the AG or judges and wanted to harass the citizens. It should not have been needed but added to emphasize the point.

    (b) concealed on or about his person, and he has a valid concealed weapons permit pursuant to the provisions of Article 4, Chapter 31, Title 23;

    If you wish to be accurate, you should ensure that your statements are... Accurate.

    According to Title 16, Chapter 23 a non-CWP holder can transport their handgun in more places that just the glove box.

    S.C. Code of Laws Title 16 Chapter 23 Offenses Involving Weapons - www.scstatehouse.gov-LPITS

    16-23-20
    (9) a person in a vehicle if the handgun is:
    (a) secured in a closed glove compartment, closed console, closed trunk, or in a closed container secured by an integral fastener and transported in the luggage compartment of the vehicle; however, this item is not violated if the glove compartment, console, or trunk is opened in the presence of a law enforcement officer for the sole purpose of retrieving a driver's license, registration, or proof of insurance; or
    (10) a person carrying a handgun unloaded and in a secure wrapper from the place of purchase to his home or fixed place of business or while in the process of changing or moving one's residence or changing or moving one's fixed place of business;

    In South Carolina you can carry your loaded weapon (rifle or shotgun, not a handgun) anywhere in the vehicle most of time under most circumstances. Most rifles and shotguns wouldn't fit in a glovebox anyway.
