    Here are some recent statistics:
Number of firearms in America: Between 233,000,000 and 300,000,000
Number of firearm owning households: At least 50,600,000
Projected firearm owning households in America: 60-85 million
Number of guns used in crimes: 450,000
Percentage of guns used in crimes: 0.09%

These statistics are projected to be low because studies have proven that people, when interviewed, tend not to tell because they want to be secretive about it. The real numbers should be 6 to 11% higher it is belived.
As far as concealed carry, between FL. and MO. you have 1 million registered carriers. I could not run down national numbers.
People are not inclined to be too open with that info and hee are a few reasons:
    THOUGHTS ON GUN CONFISCATION
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. Subsequently, from 1915 to 1917, 1.5-million
Armenians, deprived of the means to defend themselves, were rounded up and killed.
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. Then, from 1929 to 1953,
approximately 20-millon dissidents were rounded up and killed.
In 1938 Germany established gun control. From 1939 to 1945 over 13-million Jews,
gypsies, homosexuals, mentally ill, union leaders, Catholics and others, unable to fire a
shot in protest, were rounded up and killed.
In 1935, China established gun control. Subsequently, between 1948 and 1952, over 20-
million dissidents were rounded up and killed.
In 1956, Cambodia enshrined gun control. In just two years (1975-1977) over one million
"educated" people were rounded up and killed.
In 1964, Guatemala locked in gun control. From 1964 to 1981, over 100,000 Mayan
Indians were rounded up and killed as a result of their inability to defend themselves.
In 1970, Uganda embraced gun control. Over the next nine years over 300,000 Christians
    were rounded up and killed.
Over 56-million people have died because of gun control in the last century
We ALL shall see the Lord one day .... please don't make me set up the meeting.

  3. Estimates are alright, accurate numbers?

The numbers fluctuate wildly year to year. I moved from one state with a permit to another and got one there too. I had overlapping permits for several years. Even if there were a precise number at a moment in time, there are duplicates and persons who have moved and might not be carrying. I doubt if the populace is ready to know our true numbers.

I am a staunch advocate of getting a permit even if you do not intend to carry daily, for a reason of your own, like you can not at work. If something happens in your life and you have a specific reason to carry, the time delay to permit acquisition could be lethal.

Similarly for defensive items at home. Why wait for a tornado to put in a shelter or wait for a fire to buy extinguishers?

Washington State has some 240,000 (plus) licensed to carry concealed.
