Question regarding CCW Photo (Cuyahoga County, OH)

Just was wondering, I recently went to my local CVS store and obtained a "Passport" style photo for my CCW permit. I was not aware that you are NOT suppose to smile in the photo?

Will the pic, still be accepted for my permit, it is not showing teeth or is not a crazy smile, just a simple smile?

I live in Cuyahoga County, Ohio

    Thanks for any responses.
When seconds count, the police is just a couple minutes away !

  3. Picture on permit?

You have your picture on your carry permit? Weird. I'm sure as long as it looks like you it shouldn't matter.

There is no statute that prohibits smiling in the photograph.
Anyone who says, "I support the 2nd amendment, BUT"... doesn't. Element of Surprise: a mythical element that many believe has the same affect upon criminals that Kryptonite has upon Superman.

  5. Cuyahoga Co. CCW Answer

Every county in Ohio has its own method for the photos. I have my CCW from Summit Co. They took my photo themselves at the Summit Co. Sheriff's Dept. and I was smiling. They take the photo after you are approved and they require you to come back to pick up the CCW. My friend got hers in Portage Co. where they take your photo when you apply, then mail it to you after approval. She also smiled. According to Ohio law, you can apply for your CCW in your home county or any adjacent county. While Portage does not abut Cuy. Co., Summit does, so you could come here or check out other counties like Geauga. Not only do they have different photo and mailing vs. picking up policies, but processing time is likely faster in the more rural counties where there is less manpower devoted to a ton of crimes and more office time to process your application. The fees are the same no matter where you apply. I hope this helps you out.

  6. Yeah, my PA permit is just a cheap slip of paper folded up in my wallet and looks like it was typed by hand on an IBM Selectric. In Ohio, it's like a driver's license almost. Plastic, photo, holograms, a scan of my signature and whatnot. Amazing the difference between the two. To each his own I guess.

Did they use Elite or Pica font? On the IBM Selectric, you could change the font by changing the ball in the middle with all the letters on it.
