It was a article I saw on the fox news website today. It said there is a large support for it on both parties. Had anyone else seen or heard anymore about this.
I think at this point it is a hollow gesture to gear up for the 2012 elections. There is bipartisan support, maybe even enough to pass, but not even close to veto override support. There is no way that Obama signs this bill, and without enough support to override his veto why bother now.
I would rather them wait and see what happens in 2012 so they don't offer the excuse that they tried but it didn't work.
I hope my gut feeling is wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.

The initial reaction of mine was positive, but then after thinking about it, this bill has the same problems that a Federal CCW has. The Feds gain control over what was a state's decision. What would happen to Vermont that has no restriction other than that it is illegal to possess/carry a gun with the intent to commit a crime?
It's just to dangerous to let the Feds stick its nose under the tent! Look at drivers' licenses. There is recognition of all state to state, but the Feds dictate many state provisions of licensing.
Exactly...seems hard to imagine going to this from a solid state's rights position. If this can be mandated at the national level, then was other elements of it will be mandated as well.Originally Posted by JimPage

No thanks. I agree with the other posters that the feds will just screw it up. I'm pretty happy with Michigan's system and the reciprocity that is in place, and I think that will get better. Let's keep the CCW/RKBA movement grass roots.

I am against any bill that violate the 10th amendment
I am against any bill that does not apply equally to all 50 states
I am against the Feds getting involved in gun control
I am against H.R. 822 and have been since it was introcuced and all other
attempts at this same BS legislation
I am not happy with the state laws of most states but I would rather
put up with them than anything that comes out of Washington.
If you are in favor of this bill then you are either anti gun rights or a
hypocrite.
Initially, when I first read about this bill, I was in favor, but after reading posts and other member's thoughts and facts, I am actually against this now simply because I do NOT like the fact that the Feds will then be in control.
What we have currently, is not a perfect system, but it works to a point and until something better can be proposed, I think I'll gladly stick with our current system!
