If this was his first time at this barber, it might have been the barber's way of both: Approving of Concealed Carry, and discouraging potential robbery. Seeing a gun printed, depending on the town, might bring feelings of "This might be a robbery about to happen" as a first though. So by saying it the way he did, he covers his bases for both possibilities. (Innocent CC, which it was, and potential robbery, which it wasn't.)

By pointing out his own concealed weapon, he can feel pretty sure that if the person WAS going to rob him, he won't now.
