What? Illegal? Anyone have the law to post? Gun control at it's worst.

Local theater has a hand written sign "Please no firearms in theater"
    *ignored
Not worth the paper it's written on

But yes I agree, this guy is a bad example. Body armor in the theater? Really?
If it doesn't fit, FORCE it! If it breaks then it needed to be replaced anyway.

My bad.....confused the law. I stand corrected. The other posts are correct, there is no law preventing concealed carry in a movie theater that doesn't hold over 2500 people.

Yes, the Michigan CPL states you cannot carry in "...an entertainment facility that seats over 2500...". Most theaters post a sign at all entrances saying that this facility seats over 2500 so they don't specifically say you cannot carry. So, theaters, concerts, sporting events, etc. are covered.

Man arrested with body armor, loaded gun, fake CIA ID at Trillium theater in Grand Blanc Township | MLive.com

GRAND BLANC TWP, MI -- Grand Blanc Township police arrested a Flint man Tuesday at the NCG Trillium theater who was wearing body armor, carrying a loaded gun with multiple rounds of ammunition and a suspected fake federal identification badge.

Cassidy Delavergne was charged and arraigned in federal court Wednesday, July 31, with having a fake CIA identification card, said Grand Blanc Township Detective Matt Harburn.

The detective said officers were called by the theater, located at 8220 Trillium Circle Avenue, on Tuesday, July 30, around 8:20 p.m. regarding a man with a gun. Delavergne was in a theater watching a movie when the officers approached him and asked him to step outside. Harburn says that is when Delavergne claimed to be a federal agent.

"They were confident that wasn't true, and that's when they arrested him." Harburn said.

Authorities say Delavergne was wearing body armor and carrying a loaded Beretta 9mm pistol along with an extra magazine of ammunition containing 17 rounds.

According to federal court records, the FBI was contacted by the Grand Blanc Township Police Department about the identification. Delavergne told the FBI agent he went to the theater after work wearing his gun and body armor because he did not want to leave them in his car. Federal court documents say he told FBI agents that he had a permit to carry a concealed firearm.

Delavergne also told the FBI agent the CIA credentials he was carrying were fake, and he flashed the badge at the theater so theater patrons wouldn't be alarmed about the firearm he was carrying, according to court records. He then said he showed the badge to the officers to avoid legal trouble, court documents say.

The FBI agent said a later search of Delavergne's car and found an additional 111 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Theater representatives could not immediately be reached for comment.

This guy is screwed. I think the real issue became him holding onto a fake CIA ID and badge, I think the cops cared less about the gun, other than for their immediate safety. I think this kinda falls onto the whole CCW badge some people talk about. This is why I dont carry one, nor do I flaunt my CPL in an around the neck holder. Either way, good lesson learned for everyone here. Ive carried in this theater hundreds of times, never had an issue, because it was always CONCEALED which is what this guy should have done.
I dont have a secure box in my car to carry, but then again, when I KNOW im going to these events, I usually dont carry, or I keep it concealed. Worst case scenario is I put it in the center council unloaded and keep the ammunition with me. In some ways, I hope they toss the book at him, in others, I hope the best goes for him. I dont know what he was doing with a vest, Grand Blanc isnt bad, its probably one of the best areas in Genesee County. Besides, theyre uncomfortable, and bulky, even the civilian modles. But either way, 1 felony turned into multiple, wearing a bullet proof vest while commiting a felony turns into a felony JUST FOR HAVING IT ON.

If you are carrying concealed THIS is the guy you need to be sitting behind. As the NRA correctly stated, "The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun".

Most places, a sign posted saying no guns on this private property is legally binding.

In Oregon, a private property owner may elect to deny access to their property by those in possession of a firearm. If they tell you to leave and you don't, you're trespassing. And we do have the crime of trespass with a firearm in Oregon, which is weighty enough to cost you your CHL.
