Thread: National CCW

If I hop in my car in Florida and drive up to NY state with my weapon and CCW license there is a chance I could be arrested and put in jail and will never see my weapon again.

Someone gave NY a "Permission Slip" to ignore the intent of the second amendment and there should be a law that requires all states to allow a citizen to carry a weapon in any state. We have a license to drive a car in any state, why not a gun?

I don't need to read old posts about a national carry law because it doesn't exist and may never happen.

And there you have it...... the snowball rolling down the hill, getting bigger and more out of control with the passage of time. Having spent the first 60 something years of my life in the State of New York, I have a real good idea of what politicians are capable of, esp. with regard to an issue such as 2A. I retired and couldn't put that place in my rear view mirror fast enough and have no desire to see that brand of ugliness replicated nationwide.

I lived in upstate NY from 1939 to 1978. We then moved to Florida and I soon became the owner of a Roger single-six 22 and a Ruger Blackhawk .357 flat-top.

Sure was nice to be able feel like a first class citizen. I previously owned handguns in California and Connecticut but NY made it very hard to get a permit.

The only time I usually cut and paste anything is to provide a substantive basis for opinions or assertions I have either already expressed in my own words, or subsequently express after the cut and paste. The overwhelming majority of my posts contain no cut and pastes at all. The above amounts to a lie based on that empirical and easily-provable fact.

Difficult subjects require strongly-worded opinions to pierce through the intransigence of knee-jerk followers of usurping tyrants. National reciprocity is one such difficult issue. The only thing that has to worry about my heavy hands when it comes to participating on a discussion forum is my keyboard. It's not me being "heavy-handed" in this (or any other) discussion, it's the special snowflakes who are so weak-minded that they can't handle strong opinions by providing cogent opposing viewpoints to counteract them that is the bane of most discussion forums' existence. My opinions are most-often about the subject(s) being discussed. In this thread you started out in the same vein but then went full-on whiner about why you shouldn't "have to search bofh's old posts" when no one, least of all bofh, ever suggested you should. Like me, bofh was trying to guide the topic to where the most useful information could be found, and literally none of that information was provided by bofh himself!

I'm no Trump supporter, but I get the implications of the following meme nonetheless. In this meme, which is the one with strongly-worded opinions, and which is the special snowflake unable to deal with strongly-worded opposition and/or offensive speech?

The moral of the story: Don't be a special snowflake.

If a "Snowflake" is someone who won't respect other's ideas, maybe you should look in the mirror. Trying to discuss something with you is like trying to pour water into a running hose.

You babble on and play "Courtroom," hoping others will marvel at your ramblings.

To be clear, I am not questioning your knowledge about gun laws, just your sledge-hammer approach to conversations.

A few governors would fight this probably beyond the law, even rolling out the NG to prevent anyone from out of state from carrying a gun. NY, CA, MD, and others.

You would find that just as soon as you start discussing the topic rather than character-judging its participants, I will just be an easy going, but nonetheless knowledgeable, participant in the discussion. The ball is, and has always been, in your court.

  10. Pretty simple really, any state that doesn't comply doesn't get any federal road money.
