8 people shot, 3 fatally, at St. Louis factory

Crazy stuff. Just one more reason to carry at work. Stay safe there guys....

8 people shot, 3 fatally, at St. Louis factory, police say - CNN.com

(CNN) -- Three people were killed and five others wounded Thursday in a shooting at a St. Louis, Missouri, transformer manufacturing company, police said.

It was unclear whether the suspect was among those killed at ABB Inc., St. Louis Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

The shooting occurred just before 6:30 a.m. Arriving officers were told that a man had entered the building with a rifle and a handgun, and that several people had been shot, police said.

"Police made a perimeter around the business and located those victims who needed medical attention," the statement said.

Of the five at area hospitals, three victims were listed in critical condition and two in fair condition, police said.

Authorities were conducting a room-to-room search of the large building, as well as surrounding buildings at the ABB complex, the statement said. Interstate 70 and surface streets in the area were shut down.

ABB spokesman Bob Fesmire said earlier there are about 100 employees who work at the facility, but some of them were unable to come in Thursday because of heavy snow.

Yes another good reason to be armed. Unfortunately as far as the left goes it will be another reason for more gun control.

A place such as ABB (foreign-owned, likely Union controlled, and a amnufacturing facility to boot) was most likely a "gun-free zone" to start with. Places like that generally have no guns policies for their employees anyway.
Victory rewards not the army that fires the most rounds, but who is the more accurate shot. ---Unknown

Very likely. They know who the shooter is, have not found him. He was on the "list" of problem employees.

    Sound familiar?

Most employers have a policy against having weapons of any kind in the workplace. This is usually because of the insurance companies.

I kind of figured it was a disgruntled employee or a spouse/ex of an employee. I was just waiting for the info to be released.

The funny part is my employee handbook says no weapons are aloud on the property but I'm sitting at a desk with letter openers, cables, scissors, we have knives in the break room, ect.

Luckily, in my state they can not keep us from having a "weapon" locked in our cars and can only fire you if you’re caught violating the policy.
