    Police Department Glock 22 Raffle

As a fund raiser for a local Police Explorers program, one of our local police departments is raffling off a Glock 22 with special limited edition police department engravings. I'm trying to find out if this can be made public, or if it's just for the families of the Explorers. If it's public, I'll share the flyer on here, and share the love.

    I love Arizona!

If anybody is wondering, I posted this because I found this very interesting more than anything...that a police department would actually put a gun ON the street. I did not post this because I'm trying to push the raffle.

I am frankly shocked (and very pleased) that the brass of a major PD would approve this, and it shows that we in AZ understand the constitution. While some police departments in the US are seizing guns; bribing the public to surrender their guns, others are making efforts to arm the public. Love it. Move here.

The local police department here raffled off a shotgun to raise money to buy K-9's. It is quite common around here for police departments to hold gun raffles to raise money. BTW - Raffles are actually illegal in SC.

Would make more sense if the public as well as the family of the Explorers can participate in the raffle. Then again, it's a government agency putting it together, so who knows what kind of red tape and restrictions are involved.

Nice move by the LE agency though.

Yeah, I found out it's limited to the Explorers' families, and the PD employees and their families. Either way, with 3,000 tickets for sale at $5 a pop, the Explorers can look forward to a great fund raiser.

Provided that they are able to sell all of the tickets. Depending on the size of the program, that could be a heavy burden on the persons eligible to purchase tickets.
