Good reason to always shop armed in Walmart. If you don't have a firearm then first thing to do is go to sporting goods and get a bat to carry with you while walking shopping. when checking out leave the bat on the counter and say "Oh, I don't want to buy that. I just needed it for protection while shopping here, given that your security only protects the store and not the customers.'

People of Walmart: a collection of all the creatures that grace us with their presence at Walmart, America's favorite store.

After the bad guy got the money, Mrs. Jones, even if armed with her brand new Springfield EMP, there is nothing she can do. Bad guy is leaving. He is not a threat anymore.

Question for the forum, can Mrs. Jones fire on the robber if he is leaving? After all it is Texas.

The manager or the security guy are not going to do nothing. They are lucky if they posses OC.

Although I probably wouldn't recommend it to someone else, if the BG is leaving and I'm following right behind, I would trip him or otherwise impede his progress until he pulled the knife again. Then shoot him. I know what you're going to say, I would be charged with assault or something even more bizarre, but I would just tell the police that I was only trying to stop the robber...how was I to know that he would once again threaten my life with a deadly weapon..."

I've posted this before. But Texas has a "necessity" provision in the gun laws. It's basically the "he needed killing" statute. Now, for your reading pleasure...I love Texas. Great story: When I had been here only a few weeks they led the news with the acquittal of a guy who had chased a perp (who had burgled his girl's van) down the street and shot him in the back 3 times, killing him. Back in my birth state of PA he would have gone to prison. He was tried in the most liberal of all Texas cities - Austin. The District Attorney who lost the case was asked by the news reporter why the jury acquitted him. In his Texas drawl he replied "well, you have to understand: this guy had a record as long as your arm and the jury just decided he NEEDED KILLING". He didn't even seem upset that he had lost! At our CCW class we have to learn the Texas deadly force laws. The Texas gun laws still have a section titled NECESSITY. Basically, it was looked upon as doing society a favor. It didn't seem to matter that the shooter didn't know anything about the guy's record.

Jones said the man threatened to kill her if she moved and kill her family if she reported the robbery.

She said she was not about to just roll over. She said she followed the man through the aisles and yelled for help.

"I got right behind him and I was going after him," Jones said. "I was not going to let him get away and nothing happen."

However, she said that's exactly what happened. Jones said the robber just strolled out of the store past employees inside and security outside.

She said the manager told her that the security guards cannot get involved with robberies.

"He said even if the security guards had been inside the store, there's nothing that they can do," Jones said. "They are there to protect the store."

If she had a knife she could have used it on the guys arm that was wrapped around her neck. Yea I know the knife in her back could have been her undoing in that situation. Still it would have gotten the BG to release his grip and give her some distance to move away and start making some serious noise.

If she had a pistol in her purse she could have gotten it and fired behind her on either the far (cross side) or gun holding side under the arm. That would have gotten the BGs attention with a gut hit. The BG was asking for her money, and in most cases women keep money in their purse so that would have been an expected request to get the purse. Now the bad part of that. If the BG waited for her to grab the purse then took the purse from her and began to go through it, he would now have control of her weapon. Bad situation.
If she had a concealed weapon on her person, I think she would have drawn and taken one of the above shots. The news report would have been a bit different in that case.

As in many close encounters it's hard to tell what is the right reaction and what's the wrong one. I have done failure analysis for many years so I guess I look at all the possible movements and what happens next and what if. I have that luxury here sitting at home. If (God please, this is not a open invitation to test me) that situation were to happen to me, gotta go with my gut. Taking to long to decide "how to" in a situation in which your life has been threatened... Just my 2 pennies thrown in.

    Good what if review.

Like the horrific car wreck that for some reason we find ourselves unable to pry our eyes from...

I clicked on the link.. "hey I've seen her before, cant recall where... Oh yea.. Wal-Mart".. I think they fly them across the country to make the store environment and overall shopping experience feel the same..

Nothing's ever gonna change - the vast majority of people rely on the authorities to keep them safe. Even in shall-issue states look at how few people actually get a permit.
It is changeing but awful slowly, I'm not sure around the country but in Knox, TN a BG has a 1 in 6 chance of getting a big suprize, according to news reports, and Kennesaw GA, if a BG gets into somebodys home he better have body armor on

  11. And why is Quanell-X involved...just for his own publicity.,
