firearms and ammunition excise tax collection climbed 45 percent

Americans armed themselves to the teeth and paid through the nose to have a smoke, according to a U.S. government report released on Wednesday...

"Armed themselves to the teeth". Kinda has a nice ring to it, doesn't it ??

Good information to keep in mind when hoplophones speak.

The firearms, hunting and fishing communities are overtaxed. But they don't complain; in fact, sports enthusiasts have in the past lobbied for taxes to support their avocations. Unfortunately the government treats those revenues with the same criminal disregard they do all others.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.--River Tam
