Thread: Favorite Gun Myths

  1. OK, here goes with some myths that come immediately to mind:
    - The .40 S&W is an answer in search of a problem
    - Only good can come from open carry no matter what others present think
    - Any caliber smaller than the one I favor is worthless
    - A gun is just a gun-a Kel-Tec that "goes bang" is just as good as a (name it)
    - "Series 70" applies to any semiautomatic without a firing pin safety
    - You're risking your life if you buy a semiautomatic with a firing pin safety
    - There's something wrong with people who buy a gun to turn it into a "safe queen"
    - Some things, e.g., ambi-safeties, front-cocking serrations, microscopically uneven roll marks, inherently warrant lots of conspicuous complaining in internet gun forums
    - It's cool to try to emulate TV hoods by shooting a handgun with your hand turned sideways
    - There's such a thing as a "gun-show loophole"
    - There's a conspiracy afoot to limit the supply of Colts

Black talons are banned because they can go right through police body armor.

    Oh, and

Body armor is banned for civilian use.

And there we have the root of some of the most fraudulent gun myths.. The movies...

"Every time the gun goes bang the bad guy is supposed to fall down and die so mine must not be working right!"...

There is no such thing as a gun show loop hole. FFLs are required to do Background checks regardless of where they sell the gun and private sales are private sales no matter where they take place.

According to the DOJ less than 2% of all weapons used in crime came from gun shows and there is nothing inherent in the law that would allow a prohibited person to purchase a firearm from an FFL at a gun show where he /she wouldn't be able to do so at the FFL's place of business.

People that propagate the "gun show loophole" myth are generally trying to make private sales (regardless of where they take place) illegal.
See, it's mumbo jumbo like that and skinny little lizards like you thinking they the last dragon that gives Kung Fu a bad name.
