Well problem is it's across state lines every time I purchase a gun there I have to go to a different place because they sell so many nobody wants to do their transfers. Luckily my cwp instructor has his ffl so now I just use him.
Yea, that sounds about right for around my area too. One time I wanted to order a Mosin Nagant from J&G Sales, but none of the shops around here would do the paperwork. They got all pissy about wanting to order it for me so that I would have to buy it at a marked up price from them. All of a sudden the great price from J&G was not such a great price once I paid the markup.

Found this site that may help me out, but if you've already shopped all the dealerships locally, probably won't help you.

    GunBroker.com - Search for FFL

Called a shop that I've bought several firearms in the past and basically got a no we won't do a transfer on guns we can order for you... and yes at their jacked up prices. BudsGunShop lists them in their FFL pulldown of dealers who will accept transfers, glad I called him first. Did a search and found the link above, you can search by state or zipcode for FFL's who do transfers for a fee. So.... I have to make some more calls, but it looks like it's going to cost me $50 for a transfer including $10 state police background check required here in Md. So I can still save SOME money depending on the discounted price. The other consideration is taxes of course. If it's an online purchase, will I have to pay taxes to Budsgunshop? And if not, will they hit me up in my homestate at the time of transfer? It's work saving money, but alas I hate overpaying for stuff.

in fairness to Budsgunshop, his list of FFL's is color coded, with colored names being shops that will accept all transfers and the regular black ones being case by case basis, you have to call the gunshop first and get their blessing. The I one picked was in black.

  5. info on some of FFL's on the list is no longer valid

The link is valid, but some of the info. listed per FFL is old, for instance their transfer fees. So call or email them before using them for a purchase.

I really like my Walther PPS 9. If you are interested, I posted a blog on this site about my search for a CCW as a lefty.

  7. I have a Glock 26 but that is only because its one of the better authorized firearms im allowed to carry off-duty. But i would go with the S&W M&P9C. I have a full size M&P9L and love it and i had a M&P40. They are the best guns made.

Don't comprimise safety for money. If you need to like many have said save up a little more and get what feels good not what you can afford. "You get what you pay for" i am a very strong advocate of this saying.

That sure is a strong opinion....I reckon many will disagree with that.

  9. Thanks for your opinion and the work you do

I would like to test fire a few more models, but I'm limited to what's available for rent. The M&P9c is the strongest contender of the models I fired and S&W is supposed to have one of the best CS departments if there was ever a problem with it. No doubt for me the ergo's were a straight up winner over the glock 26 or the Springfield XD sub

At this point the real question is how small do I want to go. To get any smaller than the M&P I'm stepping into pocket pistol realm or at least single stack and if not justifying getting the M&P9c for it's carry size versus the Walter P99 I already own. Is it that much smaller than the Walther? Even holding guns side by side at a gun shop is deceiving because we can conceal different size weapons depending on our body type. S&W did just drop it's retail price on M&P's so that's not making my decision any easier. Locally I can get one for $520 plus taxes, SP background check $10 fee and a lock required for purchase, unless I want to go for the internal key lock, which I don't. (Online purchase is not an option because all the local dealers either refuse to do the transfer or charge $75+ dollar fee)

  10. PPS is really nice, however....

I can't even find a dealer who stocks them to hold it. OK, Bass Pro Shop does, but I'm not getting near that place till after Xmas..

The size of the gun is what draws me to it, particularly the thinness due to the single stack, making it almost a pocket pistol. I think 6+1 is a practical trade-off for it's size.

Also I own a P99 and love it, but it's a different beast.

I am a little disturbed by it's price, the mixed reviews floating around online and the feedback I've gotten from some gun dealers who don't stock it. It doesn't help that Walther cut costs by only supplying one mag.

How many rounds have you fired through yours, how do your carry it, and what's been your experience with FTF, FTE, or the dreaded slide locking back and refusing to close.

  11. Thank you for your appreciation

Well i myself am a little hefty (6'2" 260lb) so i really dont have much of a problem of concealing my firearm lol. But now if size is not an issue like me then go with what is conformatable to shoot and what you dont have to think twice if its going to work in the chance you need to use it. I cannot comment on the Walther because i have not held or shot one. One thing that can be a deal breaker is where you live because of the weather and what type of clothing you will be wearing. For example i live in NYC and we get both heat and cold. So i wear shorts or heavy jackets and jeans. So concealment is an issue more so in the summer. Usually in the summer i use a IWB holster from High Noon Holsters and in the winter i use anything from a shoulder holster, Blackhawk Serpa CQC, IWB, ankle, small of back, etc. So think of the weather that you have where you live and the type of clothes that you own and wear.
Another is what type of holster are you comfortable wearing? I know some dont like IWB because it pinches their skin, or pancakes because it weighs down their pants and so on and so forth for other holsters. It isnt CC if your fumbling with the holster in public or you can't conceal your firearm LOL

I carry everyday no matter where i go and what i wear including suits and no one including my girlfriend knows if i am carrying or not until afterwards when i take it off.
Hope this helps. if you want to talk more or have questions send me an email [email protected].
