Thread: Looking for the best handgun

I carried and still carry my Colt Gov't 380 as my only and have never had it fail to stop what I aimed at. Took 3 rounds to stop a Hog on a path once. You will be fine with a 380 for what you need it for. Practice is important and they can put a hurting on your hand especially the new poly ones.

Good luck on finding the one that fits, Took me 50 years to find the right gal! lol

If a .380 is all you can shoot with confidence the its better to have something than nothing. But according to many experts(expert means training + education+experience) with years of experience in both the private and public sector, both in Law Enforcement and as military Operators, and men who's profession it is to know these things, the .380 is the absolute minimal caliber to be considered for personal defense. Now, I dont about you other folks but Im not trusting my life to the absolute minimum anything. And when it comes to life altering choices "fine" is in my view a poor standard of achievement.

Well it's been five days since the op. Guess I'll add my nickles worth. No intro, no info, no reply. Looks like troll material to me.

I said I still, not always carry that weapon I have others when appropriate, why carry something that is diffucult to conceal in a hot humid area, where clothing is minimal most of the time. As for my abilities with any weapon or experience with them, take a guess as to my background. For a lady, a 380 is best for petite women. and is carried by many police force's still today. Experts are like orifices and opinions everyone has several depends on which one your use at the time of purporting to be an expert in a paticular field.

Really? Why do people do that? That is so weird. If I wanted to jump on the internet because I was bored and wanted to piss people off, I'd go to PeopleWhoLikeToKickPuppies, or IHaveNoRespectForMyElders, or maybe ChocolateIsBadForYou.

I had thought that originally also. Just from the way the question was put. On the other hand, I generally take people for their word (or writings) until I get to know them a bit better. (Then one can indulge in "swapping insults" and banter humor!) Or give them "designated troll" status, as necessary.

It may just be "trolling"..... maybe to test the responses received. We don't know. It may have been a request from a REAL new-bee. As it stands, we will be unlikely to know for sure. (Or if some of our wise-butt comments put her off, for that matter.)

Also Kim it kicks like a .22 mag. My wife has had surgery done to her dominate arm and has about 40% disability to her arm and has not problems firing it all day long. Not to mention it has a 20 round mag, and you can find after maket mags that hold 30 rounds. I'm now looking at picking me up one.

In the meantime, this has turned into another analysis of the perennial "best gun" answerless question.

To me, the best gun is the one that fulfills it's primary purpose (i.e. to protect me and mine) the exact time it is necessary to resort to such. Nothing more.
