  1. Now its time to thank those that helped defeat Toomey-Manchin-Schumer Amendments.

I can think of several threads where this can be posted, but as the header suggests- it's time to thank the Senators that helped defeat the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer, S. Amdt. 715 yesterday. Here's the letter sent to my Senators. It may be time to address POTUS' mental health abuses of certain grieving Sandy Hook families. Ask your Senators these questions.

    Dear Senators Heller and Reid,

Thank you for helping to defeat the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer, S. Amdt. 715. Aside from creating a de facto National Firearms Registry which is illegal, it would have imposed so many onerous provisions & criminal liability to an individual offering a firearm as a prize down to someone gifting a firearm to a relative, even a grand child. Your past letters to me stating your pro Second Amendment stances have proven true.

Sen. Heller, why the Nay vote to S. Amdt. 719, interstate reciprocity for CCW holders?

Senator Reid, hopefully your switching of the YEA vote to NAY was not solely motivated by Senate Procedure to readdress this and waste valuable time needed to tend to the nationís business- like a balanced budget or specifically addressing the mental health issues that were such a focal point in the debate.

Mental Health should be its own legislation, not an adjunct or cause of Gun Control. As so many Senators have stated, this or any similar legislation would not have prevented Sandy Hook.

Some parting questions from this debate. Who is paying for the transportation (Air Force One) of the Sandy Hook parents and siblings, their food and lodging, and how is the childrenís missed school time & lessons being addressed? Why are these families mental health over this tragedy being exploited so viciously by the President who is keeping the Anger Phase alive rather than allowing them to move onto Acceptance and getting on with their own recovery?

Will the Senate send the President a letter of censure or equal for abusing these families mental health, i.e. their recovery and raising the issue of costs for their transportation, etc.?

    Sincerely, your constituent,

We should be very happy with the Senators who defeated it but hold all accountable who voted for it. Such as McCain and Tommey. But DO NOT sing praises for Reid because he only voted no so he could bring it back at a later date. The Dems who helped defeat it are being hammered now by the libs and they are trying to dry up their donations. We won a battle but the war continues. So we can not afford to rest. We must be ready for the next battle and it will be coming soon!!!!

Reid's vote was purely procedural. Be assured, we cannot rest, as they will continue to work behind the scenes to garner votes of support. Once they believe they have enough, Reid will reintroduce the bill on the floor.

  5. Already thanked the one who voted it down. I will be sending a big boo to the one who voted for it later today.

Absolutely correct that those who voted it down are worthy of our thanks.
But with that Thanks let there not come complacency. The Battle will never end.
Even if a time once again comes when we feel as though we have reached the end of the fight, let us continue to educate and self govern.
If we find someone who we know is suffering from Mental illness and has still found themselves able to purchase or own a gun, we must report the problem before the problem becomes a tragic new beginning to the witch hunt that is titled Gun Control.
We have the ability to change the thoughts of those around us by educating them. By reaching out and inviting them to come to the range.
Allow those who fear what they do not understand to gain a new knowledge and respect for gun owners and ownership.
Education & Self Governing. Always take the Moral Highroad.
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state,
the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Absolutely right, now is not the time to sit back and rest. I called my senators today and thanked them for their "NO" votes and urged them to fight any other efforts at gutting the 2A.

I wouldn't get upset over Concealed Carry Reciprocity failing. While I love the idea; that legislation was not the way we want to accomplish it. That would have allowed the federal government to set a “federal standard” and handed President Obama and Eric Holder names of state concealed carry permit holders.

Reid is a jackal; he saw that the background check legislation was failing and switched his vote to "no" so he can call it up for another vote after another round of "backroom deals".
