Australia is a good example of what happens when the citizenry is controlled by politicians who think they know what is best for the country. Don't allow the people to think for themselves. Use every sort of propaganda and outright lies to subjugate the people and take away their rights to own weapons, hunt, fish and every other activity that is an expression of a free people. Deny them the right to choose their food, meat, vegetables or a combination of them. This vegan diet is not for me, I am a meat and potatoes sort of person. I don't want to eat grass, I want game animals to eat it and I will, in turn, eat meat! The picture of the 51 year old woman, Gillian McKeith, who eats vegan style is enough to make me run like hell at the thought of it. Nigella Lawson, the other 51 year old woman, looks half her age and shows the results of a proper diet. I don't understand why the people who seem to think they know how everything should be done and what rights we should have, can't just leave the rest of we mere mortals to ourselves. We are a much happier lot, hale and hearty, and could well do without the miseries of the oppressive do-gooders! I sympathize with the Australians for the loss of their freedoms. They will have one hell of a time getting them back! My fear is that the US is being forced into a similar lifestyle by our ultra-rich politicians and Socialistic POTUS. God help us!

The truly sad thing is that we even have members here advocating that very same thing, that we give politicians the authority to establish conditions that must be met before Americans are allowed to even own a gun. You'd have to be a true idiot to believe it would stop there. And once you give the government the authority to decide the conditions under which our rights can be exercised, you can kiss ALL those rights goodbye, not just the gun rights. It's bad enough when gun owners are hoodwinked into supporting legislation that's not in their best interest. But when they start advocating changes all but guaranteed to result in the removal of all individual rights under the 2nd amendment, you have to wonder if this isn't the beginning of the end.
Posterity: you will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it.--- John Quincy Adams

To quote Obama "Let me be clear"... well that's all i'll quote from him, Australia has the strictest gun laws in the Western World after the United Kingdom and we have daily drive by shootings in Western Sydney and plenty of gun crime. If you want a gun, you will get a gun.
