Actually, I'm there half the year anyway. I've also been considering staying in Az one more day per year, and one less day per year in Wi.
Then I'd change my resident state to Arizona.
Dixie? No thanks, too many bugs. I like Montana fine.

That's a really good idea, but a door of that bulletproof material is $1400 a piece. A wall would be pretty high, but still a good idea.

No bugs!? Sounds like a great reason to move!

And they overwhelmingly voted down the new budget? Funny how when it hits their own pockets the tune changes!!
What a disgrace they are / TWO faced!!

I'm disgusted to say I still live in this COMMY state!!!!
    Typical liberal hypocrisy?
Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia...Tenche Coxe, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.

Here's a letter I sent to the local Newtown paper recently. No surprise it didn't get printed...

"To the grieving families of Newtown -

I was part of the mourning nation that was devastated by your loss. I traveled a hundred miles each way to attend the wake of Victoria Soto, whom I had never met. On the line to pay my respects, I heard mourners ahead of me introduce themselves to Vicki's mom - "I am a teacher from Vicki's school", or "I was one of your daughters instructors". When it was my turn, I shook her mother's hand and said, "I am nobody, Ma'am; I am here representing the rest of the world." I gave them the flight helmet my Dad wore on his missions as a B-29 tail gunner in WW2 to commemorate their daughter's bravery.

I understand you all have suffered an unspeakable loss at the hands of Adam Lanza. It could be argued that Adam was born of the HIPAA-protected privacy in which he imploded. It could be said he was allowed to destroy himself within the legislated safeguards that ignored him, that he was devoured by the cracks he fell through, or enabled by an apparently twisted mother engulfed by her own delusions.

I say to each of you: You have experienced the death of a child, the worst hell a parent can endure. Your child's spirit cries out in your mind for justice. But Adam and his mother are dead, so it's too late for justice to follow the most obvious path.

If Adam had used some other method, you would be crying out solely for more mental healthcare reform. Instead, you reacted by sending the government once more to my door. They kicked it in and, fueled by blind obligation to you and awash in ignorance, they burned the Constitution and forced me to eat the ashes. Me, a man no more guilty than you.

Therein lies the dreadful end result of your feelings of helplessness and your suffocating, unnavigable grief. Swept away by it, you have endorsed and encouraged an act of perversion when you could have been the voices of reason. You failed to honor your child's memory in so doing. Adam senselessly lashed out at innocence itself. And in your blind rage, identical to Sarah Brady's, so have you, thereby accomplishing nothing of substance toward stopping the next Adam Lanza.

As they grow, the surviving children can confirm two things from men like Lanza and James Holmes, and from blind, deaf, tyrannical politicians who are above the laws of God and man, and who serve no one:
That monsters are real, and Nazis are alive and thriving.

Of course, you are certainly not Nazis - you are merely the frightened masses who enabled them, and the spirits of your children know it.

And once again, it is too late."

In retrospect, I sorta wish I had my Dad's helmet back.

That's right and the left is real good at playing that game. Put some ridiculous "attachments" to an otherwise bipartisan and noble bill only to call out the other side when they vote against it. Real easy to do with the media in their back pocket. Not saying that's what happened here but...

Rational thinking has set in. It does in every case following a tragic incident. I don't believe it is really about their pocket books. They finally got to a point where they are thinking this through like most rational people did a few weeks after that tragic incident.
This was a horribly tragic massacre. No getting around it. Be glad that rational heads and thoughts have prevailed.
We should not celebrate this as if we won something. Allow the natural processes to run their course and educate, educate, educate.
Other than these things all we can do is to let our calm and honest voices be heard.
As a "Gun Community" we can never lie about gun facts. Let the gun grabbers lie. Eventually people seek the truth and when they find they have been lied to, they tend to turn against those who lied to them. Maybe the people of Newtown found themselves on this path.
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state,
the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

To the OP, I was wondering from the get-go what the heck the donations were for to begin with. These aren't poor people. I don't get it...

I tried to post this on the Newtown online news (Newtown Patch .com) This is what they sent back to me:

Thanks for getting active on Newtown Patch. We encourage each of our neighbors to join the conversation, share their thoughts, and speak up. However, the following comment cannot be published on the site because it conflicts with our Terms of Use.

    Your recent contribution:
"Question............Where did the money go??? And maybe other residents of your town should have spoke up against these outrageous laws, such as the brave father of that poor child that was murdered that day!! Those laws that were imposed on the rest of that state, that will have ABSOLUTLY no affect!!! You realize the whole country is still watching you? You now have egg on your faces, Fighting SO hard in this state and nationally for things you are not willing to pay for in your own town! SHAME on Newtown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
