    Drone Hunting

A town in Colorado is considering allowing bounty hunters to shoot down drones. Shotguns only.

"According to the proposed ordinance, which will be considered by the town council at its next meeting on Aug. 6, prospective bounty hunters can get a one-year drone-hunting license for $25.

Proposed bounties will be $25 for those turning in the wings or fuselage of downed aircraft and $100 for mostly intact vehicles. To collect the bounty, the wreckage must have “markings, and configuration … consistent with those used by the United States federal government.”

Such “trophies” then become the property of Deer Trail."

(But if you shoot down somebody's toy helicopter, you have to pay them for it.)

A 3" 12 gauge loaded with 4 shot might work well.

I'd love to see such ordinances across the nation!

And all of them are going about it wrong. Just get a more powerful transmitter and bring it down to 500 feet. Then blast it. And by FAA rules, drones over populated areas above 1000 ft are illegal.

Clever way for the town to raise money.

Should start a pool of when someone in all 50 states have bought one of their licenses.

I have never been one to go hunting, but this might get me to change my mind.

  9. I did see an armed quad-copter that should make short work of one. I don't think the "relatively intact" modus operandi would be possible. Confetti from the heavens.

Many of the mini drones are equipped with rotors. Simple way to bring one down, drop a net from above. Rotors can't turn so down it comes.

My "long Tom" 12 with single 0 should do the job. :)
