Good read and Glad it wasn't George Zimmerman in Texas again.
Reserve officer has many meanings. I have a friend, that is a reserve deputy for a Nebraska Sheriff's office. He also has most levels of training for SWAT up to and beyond FBI. Retired 30 plus years on a major police force.

I'm starting the reserve program for our Sheriff's department. Other than the academy, we have to have the same training any deputy does. Around here, the reserves is the way to become a deputy without going to the academy. You earn your training on the job. But when reserves are on the job, they have the same status/authority as a paid, full-time deputy.

It wasn't your friend that did the shooting. Lets just stick to what was reported. He was a reserve.

the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
