Funny how a few facts can change our view of an incident.

The original reports of this incident sounded like two concealed carry permit holders got into an argument and then used then used their weapons offensively to kill each other.

But a subsequent story reveals thatJim Pullum was using his firearm to defend himself and his wife and mother, both of whom would have possibly been killed by mad man Robert Taylor had Pullum not been able to take Taylor down.

Mother who witnessed fatal road rage shootout says other driver followed car, shot first

From that perspective, Pulum used his weapon exactly as it was intended, and although he died from the assault by Taylor, Pullum at least saved the lives of his mother and wife by taking Pullum down.

Yes, Taylor was also a legal concealed carry permit holder, but legal ownership of a weapon is not a guarantee that one won't commit a crime with the weapon. No different than legal ownership of a car.

This is not a situation where two legal gun owners lost control and shot each other. it is a case where a man with a gun assaulted another man and his family. If the victim had not had a gun his family might have suffered the same fate.

Well there you go, clouding up a perfect example for the antis by injecting facts.

Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia...Tenche Coxe, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.

I'm really glad to hear the explanation, hope it's all true. That makes it a little easier for our side. One good guy with a gun, and one not as good guy.

Thanks for tracking and the follow-up post. This certainly changes the context of the incident as initially reported in the media.
