    M1 Carbine or M1 Rifle? But yeah, they both just worked. Both had something the M16/AR-15s don't have. An exposed bolt that is hard to have a spent round jam on top of. Same with an M14.

    I suppose it could help loosen it, but since the rifle is vertical, if that brass is way far up there it might not come out and just keep falling back into place.
