    Gunther,
Nobody except you (not even Bud's) has said volunteer EMTs are military or LE. Bud's just offered them the same discount.

why won't you admit emt volunteers are not considered military?
you are whacked in the head, first we are regular emt/firefighters, then we are somehow considered law enforcement, now we are civilians, wake up and smell the coffee we are all civilians including yourself. you are no longer military cause if you were you would recieve a discount and this tread would never have been started by you. WE ARE ALL CIVILIANS

The NRA instructor will probably USE the gun more for his or her profession but I also think they should get discounts on gun purchases as well.
Very well put Cpt. Wallace! I've witnessed many calls where EMT/Fire personnel respond and the patient is "MH4" or totally drugged out. It's not a job that I would like to have. I have also heard about many EMT/Fire personnel responding to incidents and get shot at while trying to do their job. I could imagine the surprise of the BG when they're popping shots off at the EMT/Fire personnel and they return fire.

As I stated earlier, I have taught a few NRA classes without using my firearms. It helps if you have your own stuff, but get creative and it's easy to overcome not having your own stuff.

  5. lets just throw the mail man into the discount why don't we?

    Why not?
Federal, risk his life eveyday bringing checks too the hood.
Deals with bad weather, does not carry a gun but could he use one?

    postal inspector maybe?

i know a letter carrier is not a postal inspector but a regular emt is not a paramedic neither.

i see the difference, do you?

thought emt had to wait for police to arrive first or atleast be escorted by police.

emt's are not suppose to run into a bank under siege and treat the hostages while they are still in the bad guys posession while the cops are still outside negotiating.

according to stump jumper emt's don't wait no matter what!

you are the one that keeps saying emt's should get the military discount when they are considered civillians.

first we respond into things that undertrained and underpaid dispatcher send us to sometimes not getting the full story so they dont know its a domestic until we arrive and find out we walked into a unstable situation, check out the tread about the kidnapped victim that the dispatcher lectured for creating all this work but she was found dead later ( maybe that will help paint the picture). second at no point have i said we are military or law enforcement or that we even want or ask or deserve a discount, and 3rd emt is a level of paramedic all paramedic s are emts.. EMTB for basic, EMTe for enhanced, EMTI for intermediate, EMTP for paramedic we all have to obtain the first to get to the last. I am an EMTP by choice because i want to be able to provide the highest level of care to my patients possible. if nothig else out of all this you will get an education of all the emt levels

    ok smart guy.

    i know the difference.

The biggest differences between paramedics and EMTs are the training and the scope of practice (what they are allowed to do). Basic EMTs usually receive 120 - 150 hours of training, while paramedics get anywhere from 1,200 hours to 1,800 hours of training. Paramedic programs often award two-year degrees.

so i wouldnt call the basic emt a paramedic but you could probably get away with vice versa.

ofcourse you are the highest level.

but you are still a civillian and should not be considered in a military discount since you are not allowed to carry a gun to the scene anyways. punk!
