Two Early Tests on Guns

    1) The Obama administration has chosen to defend a bad rule rushed through during former President George W. Bush’s final days in office that allows concealed, loaded firearms in national parks and wildlife refuges. The rule is a gift to the gun lobby.

Good, that's the way it should be. The only reason I would have a firearm with me when hiking and camping in MY National Forests is for protection from pissed off bears, monster cats and even male deer jacked on testosterone (like me) showing off its antlers. There may be some environmental impact from idiots tearing up the place, we're all seen it but you don't need a gun to do that. Just another reason to attack respectful law abiding citizens because the few are ruining it for the many.

    2) Another early test of that commitment is coming soon. It involves the so-called Tiahrt Amendment, which is strongly supported by the gun lobby. The amendment denies police and local governments access to essential information about guns used to commit crimes. The question is whether Mr. Obama’s forthcoming budget blueprint will include language aiming to repeal it.

Supported by the gun lobby??? Where do these liberal air head journalists come from?

Of course, nothing could be further from the truth. The Tiahrt Amendment (which is supported by ATF and the Fraternal Order of Police) only limits general public access to firearms trace data so as to protect ongoing criminal investigations and to save the lives of law enforcement officers and others. No law enforcement agency in the country has ever been denied access to firearm trace data about their community by ATF. Not a single one.

    Link to the truth.
