    The 7.62×54mmR is currently (September 2012) mainly used in sniper rifles like the Dragunov sniper rifle and machine guns like the PKM. The ballistic performance is similar with the .308 Winchester/7.62×51mm NATO cartridge.

    Just wanted to say hi to everyone and to say As of about 6or 7 months ago I am a proud owner of a mosin nagant. I just love the power behind both the gun and the round when i bought this gun i bought 440 rounds of surplus 7.62x54r ammo and have fired about 80 to 100 rounds thru my mosin.
