I'm funny when it comes to camping. I WONT do it in a camper. I feel like you're camping and brought your house with you. has anyone brought a firearm with them? I fended off raccoons with a slingshot before but never brought a pistol. I would probably only bring one when I camp off season and only a few people are there out of 300 sites. I did camp at a site in jersey where they said a bear was getting into their garbage. I parked the car with the driver door 2 feet from the tent entrance so all I had to do was hop out of the tent and right into the car.
I refuse to go camping without at least one gun. In Oregon, they made it illegal to hunt cougar with dogs a few years ago, and the cougar population is getting high. I'll be damned if I'm gonna be in the middle of the woods without a gun. I don't do that pay-site camping. There's plenty of woods around here, you shouldn't have to pay to pitch a tent. That just don't seem like camping to me. The more remote, the better. And I completely agree with the camper trailer thing. That's deffinetly not camping, why not just rent a hotel room instead?
I enjoy camping and usually stay in my tent or sleep out, Depends where I am at. I always carry with me when I go, just part of the equipment.
I won't camp at camp grounds. National Forrest or Wilderness for me. I always go armed. Preferred method is backpacking.
