+1. I am 61. I owned a 1911 once. Not my favorite design. I know some love them. To each their own. Much rather have a HK, Sig or Glock. In it's time the 1911 was a great design. At one time the Model T was a great design also but I would not trade my car for one to drive.

Born in '42 and I've never owned a Glock. They may be one of the most reliable handguns around today, but their not my type, their unattractive... I'm sorry, I know that has nothing to with reliability and accuracy, but those are my feelings toward the line of firearms.

I have to agree with HK4U on this one. I have shot many 1911's and don't really care for them. However I do own 3 Glocks. I must admit that a first I didn't care for their looks but all that nonsense changed after I had the chance to shoot one. After thousands of rounds down range over a period of 15 years I have never had a hiccup.

This sounds like everyone is just trying to dis each others guns. I own a Glock 19 and I think it is great. I also have a Colt 1911 , Sig, Taurus and xdm9. I think they are great guns too.

I do not think most of us are trying to dis others guns. I know I wasn't. It just shows that when it comes ro a carry piece one size, or kind, does not fit all. Everyone is differant so each should go with what works for them.

Not me Gene. I used to work at a gun shop and I sold a BUNCH of Glocks (and Smith & Wesson Sigmas and HK USP's and Kel-Tec's- all polymer framed guns).

I feel that the Glock is a fantastic design -aside from some features that come down to personal preferences. I just don't like them personally and I have found that they don't point naturally IN MY HAND as well as other designs. Once I get it situated where it is pointing straight, it shoots fantastically with a very pleasant recoil in comparison to other similar guns even when shooting hot 10mm from a Glock 20.

BUT, since it is first and foremost a self defense firearm, I will not rely on a gun that I am betting my life on that I have to hunt and find the proper master grip on.

I don't realy think you guys don't like other guns and I know everyone has their favorites. That is just the way it was sounding to me. You guys give a lot of help to others no matter what kind of gun they have.

I'm hoping to purchase a Glock 26. They are Ugly Ducklings, but they are the AK-47s of pistols. I'm a Baby Boomer to.

I happen to love 1911's...own 4 of them, usually carrying one of them...or a Kahr Mk9. That being said, my nightstand weapon is a Glock 21 with a surefire slung underneath...with a Kriss/Glock 30 round mag. How's that for a contradiction?

Sounding? It must be the TV up really loud...

It gets like that here sometimes. Thick skin is not required, but it may help... State your opinion if you have one and stick with it.

    Welcome to the fun...
You can give peace a chance alright..

I'll seek cover in case it goes badly..
