Thread: This is the week, House Bill 148 vote nears

  1. This is the week, House Bill 148 vote nears

Valinda Rowe, spokesperson for Illinois Carry released this news:

IL House of Representatives Expected to Vote Soon on
    Right to Carry Bill HB148!

Illinois state representatives return to Springfield Tuesday, April 26 and many believe a vote on Right to Carry bill HB148 is imminent. It is urgent that you call your state representative and firmly but politely ask them to support your right to protect yourself and your family. Urge them to vote YES on HB148.

Every single vote will be critical for passage of the bill and it is common knowledge that legislators in the northeast portion of the state tend to oppose this legislation. If you live in the northeast part of the state, this call to action is especially important. If you have family or friends living in that area, please call them and urge them to contact their legislator.

Called my rep Michael McAuliffe, when I spoke to him in the past he was for HB148 and talking to his office today they say he is still for this bill.

So lets say this does pass on Friday, since we all have our fingers crossed and it's just an all around good week (so far).

How long would it be until it is up and running? I'm only guessing it would take a year or so to get everything in place to start taking applicants?

Where would the permit be honored? Also how is that determined? Do the Governors just sit around and say "Hey I'll buy the next round for anyone that honors our CCW!"

    Just a few thoughts

  5. Just got off the phone with representative Mike Tryon's office. He is a co-sponsor of the bill and will be voting for it. More calls from other constituents will help to underscore our support for their support.

  7. Looks like it received 65 votes. Needed 71 to over turn the veto that Quin promised to do if it passed

Placed on Calendar - Consideration Postponed

What does that mean? They are going to extend it further for debate or something? Or is that going to Quinn to settle it?

  9. It means that the bill is still alive and that the sponsors can still go about the task of lining up the six votes needed to make it veto proof. When there are at least 71 votes cast in favor of the bill, it can not be vetoed.
