I'm not familiar either, at least with Iowa govt. I figured they could carry it over to the next session and vote to override it.
The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first. - Thomas Jefferson

The governor still hasn't signed the bill. Maybe the anti-gun crowd got to this guy.

  9. It has been signed... and finally, Iowa has one law regarding Concealed carry, not 99 +1 different "laws", with cronyism, and bogus justifications...

Thanks to the Governor for signing, thanks to the mostly democratic legislature, and special thanks to those who fought so long and hard to get this done...

It takes effect on 1 January, 2011.... Great news for those like me from other states (Nebraska in my case) that live very near to Iowa... I'm right across the river from them....

When Nebraska did this a few months ago, I wrote to the governor and thanked him. He wrote back saying he appreciated my letter and was happy to support our Second Amendment rights. I'm going to write to Governor Culver, too. If a lot of us write letters, it will put a bit of polish on a major achievement for people who believe they have the right to self-protection. Don't think the governor and other politicians won't notice a bunch of letters from out of state, either, even if the authors can't vote in Iowa.

We need to flip a few more states and really isolate the hysterically anti-gun states like Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Hawaii, and California. Maybe Wisconsin will be next to flip.
