What I think boomboy means C&L, is one can be attacked in the country by toothless trailer-park dwellers, as well as in the city by saggy pant wearing urban youth.

One should carry, and carry the largest caliber they can comfortably handle. A spare magazine, just in case extra rounds are needed.

boomboy, C&L is far from being an anti, you should see what he has in his gun safe. I am envious.

Understand. My only point in this matter is you are more likely to have a bad LEO experience at a Cleveland Walmart than at a SC horse farm, WRT those concern, connotation and expectation things. Being that any given LEO will be more or less concerned about what he expects from a weapon wielder at any given place and time.

Remember what happened to the Marine at Costco?

    That is all.

So I take it you never learned how to be polite as opposed to insulting? I further take it that, unless someone is in total lock-step agreement with you, they do not possess the intellectual ability to understand a simple sentence?

I completely understand your use of the terms. I will also repeat that those selfsame "concerns, connotations, and expectations" are used to further the anti-self protection argument by the anti-gun crowd. I mean that the phrase that you used is used EXACTLY, with only the locations changed, depending on the argument.

Frankly, I don't care how many guns one may have locked away in a safe. If you are not allowed to use those firearms in the protection of yourself and/or others, then they are nothing but expensive paperweights.

Unfortunately, IceMan, our second amendment is NOT applying from sea to shining sea. In fact, there is nowhere that allows citizens to exercise their second amendment right the way our forefathers envisioned. Alaska, Arizona, and Vermont come closest, but still fall short.

Dude, you need to chill out. You literally attacked me and went off on a 2A rant for making a vauge reference to possible environmental aspects of LEO encounters.

Get a grip for cryin' out loud.

I'm sorry, would you mind pointing out my attack? Additionally, is your aim to now ban discussion of the 2A, as you tried so remarkably unsuccessfully with another recent subject?

Like I said, as depicted in you avatar: get a grip.

    Thread hijack: FAIL

Is this rant directed at me? Because if it is, I have no idea what you are talking about. You might as well go practice your cyber bullying on somebody else. You're obviously not very good at it, need more practice.

Actually, the horse farm is in Ga, Hall County, not SC. In SC, I have jurisdiction. In Ga, I do not. Also, I do carry in WalMart, resturants, etc. in Cleveland, Dahlongea, Gainesville,Chatsworth, Dalton, Elijay, Canton, Perry and many other portions of Ga. This is my first encounter with a Ga LEO in which I needed to Identify. Also remember, he was answering an alarm in progress. This raises the bar.

Yes, excellent point - potentially numerous what I will call "situation-unique environmental factors" involved that will flavor the encounter one way or the other.

This is a good experience and reiterating others, a good officer. What's weird is that LEO encounters and attitudes in similar situations are so varied across so many jurisdictions and so unpredictable that we find it necessary to bring the good experiences to light. We honor and practice our constitutional God-given (not state-given though IT takes credit) right to peacefully arm ourselves with fear and trembling that an overlooked legal technicality or interpretation will send us to jail. That's the big story behind every one with a happy ending.

I just had a traffic stop in Macomb County, MI. After I handed my License & etc over, I realized I had not informed the officer of my carry permit. I pointed it out to the officer and said "I forgot to mention --". He glanced over it and said "Yes, I see it" and walked back to his car. He did not mention it again, nor ask about a firearm. I was very impressed by his calm, professional attitude.
