    Encounter with Nebraska LEO

I hold a Missouri CCW. My wife and I were driving home on Hwy 2 from our sons home in Seward, NE. I missed the speed limit sign that was posted for the change from 65 MPH to 55 MPH. I Nebraska State Patrolman was heading west and clocked me with his radar.

After pulling over I told my wife to just sit still in her seat and wait.He came up and asked for my Drivers License and registration. My Ruger SR9 was next to my right leg and I wasn't about to reach for anything with his OK.
I informed him that "I hold a permit to carry concealed from the state of Missouri, and I have 2 pistols in the car with me."
He said, "Well, get your drivers license and registration and don't come back up with a gun and we'll be fine."
When I opened my wallet he asked if there was a separate card for my permit of if was on my license, and then asked to see the permit when I told him that they were separate. He looked it over and said, "Yup, just like we're doing it," and returned my permit.
Nothing more was said about it and it was generally a pretty good encounter. He even let me off with a warning.

  6. It seems the more experienced troopers don't get as hyper as rookies do. I was stopped for a registration check just 2 miles from my house and the rookie's hatband must have been too tight or something. Discovering I had a CCW put the trooper on edge and since I was already having trouble understanding his speech, it only made communication more difficult that the officer felt he needed to stand behind my window so I couldn't face him and watch his lips. We finally got through his questions but the whole episode took about 10-15 minutes.
I keep a nondriver state ID with my CCW status on it rather than have the endorsement on my driver license. At one time, Missouri used the SS# on the driver license so I had an ID with a random # for those times when I didn't want to show the SS#. That ID was almost expired when my CCW was issued so I decided that was the one to put the endorsement on. MO no longer uses the SS# on licenses or ID's.
