Actually he didn't state backyard, but indicated he was with his back towards the road. That implies side or front yard, line of sight of the street.

No where did I say the officers actions were correct, only that I understand the response due to the city, the cutbacks the PD has gone thru, and the nature of the call.

As for a false police report, if it was called in from a pay as you go cell, no real way of tracing the call or the caller. Again, limited resources for the PD, means doubtful they will follow up on it.

Bottom line? Sure I will get slammed for my opinions, but they are what they are. The officers were responding to a call, the OP was well within his rights to carry when and how he was, and it all ended well.
I would even venture to say he has a good idea, if it was one of his neighbors, which one dislikes him enough to place the call.
I was in the front yard, and according the the Plain clothed officer a marked unit was flagged down and made aware of me apparently waving my gun around and how it was now "sticking out of my shirt"

As for the other guy who said I needed to do a bend test, I highly doubt with the amount of yard work I was doing that day a bend test would have done anything for me, I was constantly bending over and standing up, lifting heavy bags and all that other good stuff, if anything, I put too much faith in a holster, lesson learned here is PD isnt as bad as I thought, and I found out I wont panic when LEOs show up regarding my weapon, I stayed calm, cool and collective, and in my opinion had a good encounter from Police which isnt the case for everyone.

As far as the complainant, Im not worried about finding out who they are, hopefully the end result [nothing done] by the Police will show the liberal hippie, not everyone with a gun is evil, maybe lesson learned from them, but any further action by the police is doubtful. Almost 15 minutes after the Police left my house they had an apparent shooting over on the north
side and a follow-up foot chase [all according to Flint Police Operations public scanner postings]

I usually Open Carry in my yard, being Flint Id like everyone to know I have a weapon, and because its more convenient when Im doing alot of work, but because of the new holster, I wanted to break it in. My mistake apparently, another lesson learned I guess. I didnt feel as if I were harassed, I know if I called on a REAL man with a gun, I would appreciate the Police took proper precautions and addressed the complaint, and obviously, the Police had no way of knowing if it was my property or not.

If you are on your own damn property, and not breaking a law, politely ask the cops to leave and tell them to have a nice day, and maybe go arrest someone that is actually breaking a law.

The fact that the crime rate sucks there, an understaffed police force has time to harass honest citizens pretty much demonstrates the problem in Flint.

I play by the rules when out in public, and I do carry my ID and CHP if I am carrying concealed. In fact my deep concealment rig even has a pocket to carry my ID and CHP. If I walk the dogs in my neighborhood, and open carrying (more for bears and rabid foxes or racoons than bg's), I don't bother with ID or permit. And in MY yard, I carry how I want, and don't worry about having ID or permit.
From the MI State Police Website regarding Concealed Carry.

An individual licensed to carry a concealed pistol shall have the license in his or her possession at all times he or she is carrying a concealed pistol.
Failure to possess CPL license when carrying a concealed pistol is a State Civil Infraction and a $100.00 fine.
Upon request, an individual licensed to carry a concealed pistol shall show both of the following to a police officer:
His or her license to carry a concealed pistol
His or her driver license or personal identification card
Failure to show CPL license and Michigan driver license or Michigan personal identification card when carrying a concealed pistol is a State Civil Infraction and $100.00 fine.

To be honest, in reading the last post from the OP, he is even okay with the outcome. Not going to keep going, as I stated, thinking for some reason you and I will disagree on most things.

On your own damn property..... well good luck up there in the next communist state. Whom can you blame. Oh yes, the people elected by the citizens of MI.

I also have to have my CHP with me when concealed and NOT on my property. I have carried concealed all day, in my home, on my property, and my CHP has been in my wallet, on my dresser. When I went to the store, I took my ID and CHP with me.

If it is registered to you aslong as it has been atleast 30 days then you don't have to carry the registration
You also have to "register" guns in MI, and carry it with you?

Except for the fact that they wouldn't need a warrant to detain you in your front yard as they conduct an investigation into whether or not any crime occurred.

If the cops had reasonable suspicion a crime occurred, such as seeing you with a gun and having a report of you waving it around, they wouldnt need any warrant to detain you if they come up to you in your front yard.

I see you live in CO, did you elect the politicians that are actively stripping the rights of CO residents, as guaranteed under the Constitution of the US? You sure sound like you approve.

If a citizen makes such a claim, and it is not witnessed by a LEO, let them officially file a complain, not just some chicken little, or more correctly chicken sh!t anonymous report.

G-damned surrender monkeys are sinking our freedoms as fast as the bastards in power try to grab them

You seem to be confused about the powers of police when it comes to the 4th amendment. Maybe you should read on the issue before venting general frustration with government towards me

According to MI law, Police were at my home investigating a Felonious Assault Complaint [thats what waving a gun around technically is being there is no technical term in Michigan regarding brandishing] the encounter went well especially under the circumstances, sadly in Flint, Police usually have to act, especially on a possible MWAG situation, and unfortunately, obviously the complainant was wrong, he/she did not stick around to file the paperwork, although I am sure the Police received a name of some sort, which again may or may not have been correct. Am I happy I had 3 Police w/ weapons drawn [pointing down] with my wife and son [7 mo old] in the front yard? Hell no. But then again, Id rather cooperate with the police than have guns pointed at me or be tased for no reason, although it could be justified by Police, and I am sure our Liberal Prosecutor would agree with them, Id rather not waste the time of myself and put my family through something unneeded or lose my CPL over sometime stupid, when all I have to do is kill with kindness.
