WATCH: N.J. troopers arrest woman for remaining silent during traffic stop

The most extensive write-up of the case I could find is here:

TRENTON Two New Jersey state troopers cuffed a woman along a Warren County roadway and hauled her in on an obstruction charge because she refused to answer questions during a routine traffic stop, according to dashboard camera footage obtained by NJ Advance Media.

The Oct. 16 incident, which happened near the New Jersey-Pennsylvania border on Route 519, is now the subject of a federal civil rights lawsuit filed by the woman, Rebecca Musarra, an attorney from Philadelphia.

Musarra claims in the suit the troopers violated basic rules familiar to anybody who's ever watched a police show on TV, including the right to remain silent.

She claims at least three troopers insisted during the ordeal that her refusal to answer questions was a criminal act.

Bottom line, if you watch the video to the end, Ofc. Mistaken Bacon can be heard saying, ""You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer any questions," as he hauls her off to jail for remaining silent and refusing to answer his questions.

I'm not a particular fan of lawyers, but I hope this one gets millions awarded. Too bad that if she is successful, it will only punish the tax-payers in Ofc. Mistaken Bacon's jurisdiction. Nothing will happen to him or the cop-shop or the municipality, and if the municipality can't afford the judgment, they'll just raise taxes and still protect Ofc. Mistaken Bacon. What a freakin' racket this country has become.

Never argue with the police at the side of the road. She got arrested. To quote my first platoon sergeant (Miller, Junior Sheilds) "Sometimes it just bees like that." Odds are she won't make millions but I'm sure she'll be nicely compensated
In an emergency individuals do not rise to the occasion, they fall to the level of their MASTERED training

How did she "argue" by keeping silent?

She didn't, she shut her mouth and let them do their thing

She needed to affirm her right to be silent by stating that she would not answer any questions. Not saying a word is obstruction. That is how they will spin it.

Watching to much TV can be bad for your health. I wpuld hate to have her sit on a Jury and say: But on TV, CSI gets DNA in 15 minutes. She just another tool in a life of funny games.

Being an attorney herself, I seriously doubt that was the only argument presented in the suit.

Are you saying that because you don't like that one line that ostensibly comes from her lawsuit, that you're OK with arresting her for ignoring the stupid question of, "Do you know why I pulled you over tonight?" Is it just "funny games" to you when cops abuse their authority? Violate people's rights? What possible law enforcement and/or government interest is served by arresting someone who simply exercises their right to remain silent on a freakin' traffic stop?

Here's a hint: "Contempt of cop" isn't a real charge, and neither was "obstruction" in the instance of the video you just commented on.
