I have an opportunity to buy a Winchester 250 lever action 22, but I have no clue (haven't seen it yet, except at a distance) about how well it has been cared for, or how many rounds it has had through it. I am wondering if anyone has some advice of what to look for (any red flags). I have a reasonable knowledge of guns but haven't seen this model before.

I shot a Henry .22LR years ago and liked it. I'm looking into getting one of my own. They retail for about $850 new here. I assume they're cheaper in the U.S.

Not bad at all. You used to be able to buy firearms at Kmart here; those days are long gone.

Not sure if that makes me into lever action guns or not.
Lol you think the .30-30 has a rainbow trajectory, ever shot a .45-70? That thing is damn near an IDF weapon.

I have a Henry .44 Magnum lever action, and love it. Very accurate with iron sights out to 100 yards. The action is smooth, with practice you can cycle thru rounds very quickly if needed. I did have an issue where the outer magazine tube developed a crack, but I contacted Henry and had it back from them in less then a week, tube replaced and they re-worked the action to make it even smoother, all at no cost to myself.

I've owned a couple of Henry rifles and like everything about them except for their weight, much too heavy.
